This poor Roush Stage 2 F-150 looks terrible, but it's actually a very rare pickup.
Rare Beast
At first glance, not too many people would think that this 2008 Ford F-150, which was recently up for sale on Craigslist, is anything terribly special. In fact, you're probably laughing at its silly, tacky modifications and wondering why the heck anyone would do this to a truck in the first place. However, this isn't just some run-of-the-mill F-150 - it's a very rare and powerful Roush Stage 2.

Low Numbers
For starters, the truck began life as an F-150 Limited, which was produced in scant numbers for the 2008 model year - just 5,000 were made, in fact. So you can imagine that only a tiny sliver of those were transformed by Roush. Unfortunately, this one looks like its owner also threw the entire Pimp My Ride playbook at its exterior as well.

Power Boost
Regardless, there are some good things going on under the hood. Namely, a Roush supercharger that boosts the original 5.4-liter V8 from its stock rating of 300 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque all the way up to 445 horsepower and 500 pound-feet.

De-Bling
These qualities certainly make this a truck worth saving, and it should be fairly easy to de-bling. We'd remove that aftermarket grille and headlights, rip off the silly tacked-on chrome trim, and change out those giant wheels with rubber band tires for a stock set, right off the bat.

Solid Cabin
Thankfully, the interior looks to be in pretty solid shape, as does the rest of the truck, despite its tasteless mods. And according to the Roush badge mounted inside the cabin, this truck is number 294 out of 750 produced, which certainly makes it special in some regard.

Documented Maintenance
According to the seller, the truck has been maintained properly, and has recently received new spark plugs, a new timing chain, oil pump, and valve cover gaskets. He even has all the receipts to document the work. However, the truck does have 136k miles on the clock, and these motors are known to have their issues.

Unsolved Mystery
Thus, despite its rarity, we found the asking price of $15,000 to be a bit high. Regardless, the ad has since been deleted, so we're curious to know if the truck sold or if the owner simply decided to keep it. Regardless, it's nice to know that at least one of this rare Roush F-150s is still around and kicking, and hopefully, its new owner will give it the exterior TLC it truly needs.
