Riot on the Radio

The legendary Bigfoot is so engrained in our national psyche it’s hard to believe that not a single “monster truck” existed before its debut in 1974. In 1987, Ford designers worked with Bigfoot’s creator Bob Chandler to design a series of trucks for retail sale that would be based on the legendary monster. Only 300 of the Bigfoot Ford F-250 Cruisers were made —and this one remains in excellent condition and has only 9,000 original miles, meaning your dreams of driving your own original Bigfoot can still come true.

What separates this Bigfoot Ford F-250 from similar models of the day? Along with the immediately recognizable Bigfoot graphics on each door panel, the Bigfoot F-250 also came with a suspension two-inches higher than stock models, larger wheels, and, of course, larger tires. This particular Bigfoot F-250 has actually been elevated four inches —giving it not just an even more badass appearance but even more off-road capability.

Shootout on the Silver Screen

Inside, the Bigfoot F-250 oozes style. The gauge cluster is trimmed out in faux-wood paneling that makes the blue vinyl dashboard pop. The plush cloth bench seat is in like-new condition, as is the floor carpeting which is in impressively great shape. If you want to crank your favorite 80's tunes during the trip, fret not. The factory original AM/FM radio with cassette player is still on board, in addition to the original leather-wrapped steering wheel and floor mats.

Bad Man Cruising Around

While the suspension lift, bigger wheels, and tires separated the Bigfoot F-250 from other '87 Ford F-250's, the engine is the same from the stock lot. This truck boasts its original 7.5L Engine mated to its original automatic transmission. The truck's power steering and 4x4 capability make it a more than worthy foe for your favorite dirt trails.

Saddle You Up

Other differentiations that separated the 300 1987 Bigfoot F-250's were stylistic nods to the original Bigfoot. These include a Westin brand double-chrome roll bar in the year with five KC brand floodlights on top —true to the original. The truck's black leather bed cover adds a touch of class to the beast.

Big Gun Number One

While this honorary Bigfoot may seem small compared to the famed monster truck itself, it's important to remember that the "original" Bigfoot was in fact a stock model Ford F-250 purchased by truck modifier Bob Chander —complete with a camper shell on it. Since then, many different Bigfoot's have come and gone, but with this historic rig in the driveway, you can maintain your own piece of automotive history for weekend adventuring.
