Unsolved Mysteries

Oftentimes, we see extremely low mileage trucks and wonder - how the heck did they make it this long without racking up at least six digits on the odometer? And typically, those well-preserved gems have some sort of story that fulfills this curiosity. Unfortunately, that isn't the case with this 4,000-mile 1985 Ford F-150 that just rolled across the block at Mecum Auctions, however.

Pure Speculation

Thus, we're left to do nothing but speculate about how this showroom-fresh F-150 lived the last 34 years of its life. Was it owned by an older person who bought it new and only drove it to church on Sundays? Or did someone buy it only to pass away shortly thereafter, leaving it to a family member who refused to drive it?

Plush and Unused

At this point, we don't know the story behind this barely-used F-150, but that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things. What we do know is this might be the nicest '85 we've ever seen. Just look at that stunning interior, which looks like it's never even been sat in!

Carefully Stored

The fake wood applique is likewise in perfect condition, with zero fading or peeling. It's pretty clear from that and the unfaded seats that this F-150 has been stored away from the sun and the elements throughout the last several decades.

Eyeball Test

It's oftentimes a risk to assume that trucks like this are, in fact, as advertised. But judging by the overall condition of this beauty, it's not too hard to believe. No word on if the truck was sold with any sort of documentation, but it sure passes the eyeball test, at least.

Story Teller

The engine bay, a place notorious for exposing fake "low mile" trucks, sure looks like it's in great shape. The 302 in there also looks to be original and unmodified, which is what you'd expect from a 4k-mile pickup.

Scratch Free

Heck, even the inside of the bed looks like brand new. Back in these days, people didn't immediately get a bed liner to avoid scratches. They simply didn't worry about it, accepting them as a byproduct of using these trucks what they were built to do - work.

Protection

The bed cap undoubtedly helped save the inside of the bed from the elements, but it's in equally nice shape as well. Clearly, someone spec'd this truck as a tow vehicle. But for whatever reason, it was never used as such, at least not enough to write home about.

Nice Options

This '85 is a very nicely optioned pickup as well, with factory air conditioning, power steering, brakes and windows, and cruise control. It's also equipped with the factory tow package and automatic transmission.

Jaw Dropper

So while this stunning F-150 might remain a mystery indefinitely, it's certainly left us slack-jawed if nothing else. And we just hope that it's now resting the garage of someone who appreciates its beauty as much as we do!
