I Left My Baby Behind

What makes the world of restored trucks so great? Because with a coat of paint and a tinted window, one can take a perfectly badass off-road-ready 1976 F-150 and transform it into one smooth town cruiser. Sure, this truck has probably seen sunrises over the farm, but its days in the field are over. That's because this deep blue something has been painted up and retrofitted into a true creature of the night.

Saving Nickels, Saving Dimes

The long-running trend in vintage truck resto has been to accentuate, restore, or improve upon the blocky bodies and color-accented trims that were all the rage in the late '70s. This particular truck is set apart from the crowd for completely different reasons. This F-150’s recognizable side trim has been removed to create a singular blue tone across the vehicle’s entire exterior. The suspension has also been lowered four inches from its original height to further accentuate its smooth attitude.

The truck is powered its original "Lima” engine —a 460 cubic-inch big-block 385 V8, named for the Lima, Ohio plant where they were formerly manufactured. Fully restored, it also features a bevy of performance upgrades like an Edelbrock-brand four-barrel carburetor and newly added dual exhaust. By 1978, these engines would be phased out in Ford's large truck lineup in favor of diesel-powered engines.

I'm Going Back Someday

The truck's cloth interior remains in incredible shape, as does the faux-wood paneled dash. The cloth interior fabric is brand new, as is the Grant GT brand racing-inspired steering wheel. The truck's modernized sound system comes complete with Rockford Fostgate amp and subwoofer, meaning your '70s rock anthems will sound much, much better now than they ever did with the original AM/FM cassette deck.

That Familiar Sunrise

The truck's fiberglass box is custom-fitted, and the jet-black tonneau cover looks great when juxtaposed to its heavily tinted rear window. And for attitude? Look no further than the truck's big tube Mickey Thompson brand tires and stainless-steel rims which play nicely off the front grille on the truck's wide stance.

How Happy I'd Be

This “Blue Velvet” specimen is the best of a few different worlds: rugged performance power, modern interior comforts and amenities, and low-riding, head-turning good looks that will get as much applause on Main Street as they will on the city strip. While many ’76 Ford F-150’s still held on to their farmer roots, this genius restomod is full funk, full time.
