1963 F-100 is Partially a Toyota Camry

We've seen more than our fair share of unique restomod Ford trucks. But a 1963 F-100 with a Toyota Camry engine swap has to be among the most unusual builds out there.

Japanese Mill

How often do we see classic Fords being immaculately restored with modern underpinnings? It's no secret that the timeless aesthetics of these old machines mixed in with state-of-the-art performance is a winning recipe. We love seeing classic Ford truck restomods ugraded with new Ford V8s. And as much as it might bother the purists, GM-sourced motors create interesting prospects with these builds, too. But a Japanese mill isn't what we're used to finding under the hood of a '63 Ford F-100!

4th-Gen Camry 4-Cylinder

The Japanese-made engine in question is sourced from a Toyota Camry. Not the current Camry's 3.5-liter V6, or even the 4-cylinder. In fact, the engine is from a fourth-generation Camry, which was sold between 1996 and 2001. It's a 2.2-liter four-banger with a factor-rated 130 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque.

Opting For Reliability

It's safe to say this build is not geared towards exceptional power output. Those old Toyota power plants have a solid reputation for being practically bullet-proof though. So if it's reliability and easy maintenance you're after, it doesn't get much better than this! The Toyota 5S-FE engine is mated to the corresponding 4-speed automatic transmission from the same Camry.

FWD

In addition to the power and drivetrain being swapped in from the Toyota, the front section of the frame has been transplanted as well. And yes, this means this old F-100 is now a front-wheel-drive pickup!

Climbing Inside

Inside the cabin, the Ford truck has been given modern touches such as a leather-trimmed split-bench, a modern infotainment system and audio setup, and a GPS-driven speedometer. The Camry influence continues in here, with the addition of an A/C unit from the Toyota.

Up For Auction

Other than the aforementioned customizations, the truck looks mostly original. The exceptions include the 1964 Mercury front grille and the custom tailgate. And let's not forget those 15-inch wheels with Moon discs. The body has been beautifully restored. And the Camry-swapped F-100 is looking for a new home, being auctioned off on Hemmings. At the time of this writing, the top bid sits at $2,300, while the asking price is set at $9,350.
