In Hot Pursuit

At foreword glance, this pickup takes on a bus-like appearance. Its expansive windshield offers a huge view of the road ahead while it's fully restored chrome-grill-wrapped lightbulbs give to expand on the truck's unforgettably unique character. Fresh glass and weather stripping further expound on the truck’s clean lines.

Past Paradise

The truck’s dual front seat and “doghouse” rear passenger compartment have been re-adorned with slick black fabric. Left untouched was the rig’s original steering wheel, which boasts a cool patina look that pays homage to the many miles the truck has traveled despite its many adventures ahead. The sleek, minimalist interior also includes original restored gauges and terrestrial radio.

Heart of the Matter

You’ll need the doghouse for all your travel gear since the center compartment houses a surprise that view vehicles can boast: the engine. This ’62 Ford E100 Econoline Pickup is still running its original 6-cylinder Ford engine mated to the original three-speed manual transmission.

Get on the Bus

The truck's bus-like appearance is no accident. In fact, in 1961 the Ford Econoline series was offered in three body styles: a pickup like this orange model, a Delivery Van, and a Station Bus. The truck's original design was based on Ford's Falcon line and featured unibody construction as part of its “mini cab-over” engineering layout.

Employee of the Month

Those from a certain era will recall that Ford Econoline Trucks were staples of the Bell Telephone company, who owned a massive fleet of them to assist their installation crews. Reasonably priced to purchase and simple to maintain and operate, Ford Econoline trucks and vans would be a familiar sight across all trades industries throughout the 1960s. Lucky for you, this Poppy-Orange 1962 model's only job now is looking cool —a line of work vintage auto fans are all-too-familiar with.
