1956 Ford F-100 Looks as Good as it Hauls
Second-generation Ford F-Series boasts a tasty mix of original and custom characteristics.
A Hidden Gem
Mecum Auctions have become a consistent home of amazing classic vehicle listings over the years. This stunning green custom 1956 Ford F-100 may not be the most glamorous item to cross the block at one of their events. But it's certainly one that is worth a closer look.

Amazing Collection
The pickup under the spotlight here is set to be auctioned off on September 10th, during Mecum's Dallas event. It is being presented as a part of the James Gilstrap collection, which features more than a few timeless classics from Corvettes to exotics like Aston Martins, Ferraris, and Lamborghinis. Naturally, our nifty F-100 is flying a little under the radar.
Classy Cabin
The deep green paint is quite the attention grabber. Upon closer inspection, interested parties can find a slew of shiny chrome trim. Climbing inside the cabin will unveil a beautifully-done interior with light green vinyl and more chrome. The custom build retains the character of the classic Ford, though. Not many non-era-appropriate touches here.
The Power
Reliable V8 power comes courtesy of a 302 ci motor with a Holley carb and an Edelbrock intake manifold. Exhaust fumes exit through a Flowmaster system. The Ford's power is transferred through the drivetrain via a C4 automatic transmission. Connecting that force with the earth is a set of chrome wire wheels wrapped in trusty BF Goodrich tires. No specifics have been shared as far as the vehicle's overall output numbers.
Looking For a New Home
The attention to detail is what sets this pickup apart from the rest. It's not apparent in the photos. But the beautiful custom F-100 also features an oak bed hidden underneath the vinyl cover. We simply can't get enough of that charming green hue. And we're sure neither will the truck's next owner.
