I'm Looking Up

Ford truck fans past, present and future adore the classic look of the 1940 Ford Pickup —and this beauty is no exception. From its handsome dark forest green paint scheme to the pop of its red and white wide wail tires, this restored model is a wonderfully conditioned throwback to just how handsome these vehicles were when they dotted American roads in cities and small midwestern towns.

Take in the Stars

Ford truck connoisseurs will recognize the changes implemented by the manufacturer for their 1940 redesign. These changes included reworked cabs that feature the incorporation of a one-piece cowl top, roof, and windshield-pillar with Ford logo stamping. The front of the truck features polished chrome accents and a chrome grill which immediately illustrate the Art Deco designs of the era.

It's Somethin' You Got

This truck features a fully restored Ford Flathead V8 with just over eighty-thousand miles. In 1940, drivers had a choice between two flathead V-8 engines: a 136-cubic-inch build capable of 60-horsepower, or a 221-cubic inch build that was capable of 85-horsepower. It's no surprise that the latter engine was the popular choice of purchasers who utilized the truck for commercial and industrial applications.

Fighting Many Hours is Not For Us

Ford historians note that the 1940 Ford truck lineup took on what could only be described as "car stylings," with special attention given to the bench seat upholstery and stylistic gauges, although the truck's flat-faced dashboard still differed from the sloping dash that was utilized in Ford cars.

Talented restorers such as the crew that has brought this 1940 Ford Truck back to life often revitalize the beds in beautiful ways and this model is no exception. The truck's bed now features stained hard maple floorboards separated by sharp-looking steel slats that add an impressive element of strength and style to the rebuild.

Taking Off in the Bling

The thick font of the white gloss Ford logo on the truck bed is an awesome throwback to the brand's early years. The Art Deco style "V8" logo which appears underneath the brand logo is also an artful touch to the truck's minimalist style. Wonderful antique pickup truck restorations bring renewed appreciation to the Ford Motor Company's early visions as to what a pickup could be and continue to influence and impress engineers and designers to this day.
