1934 Ford Pickup Is one Stunning Workhorse
Imagine how cool it would be to see this classic tow truck show up when you're broken down on the side of the road.
Beautiful Sight
Imagine how cool it would be to have some car trouble back in the 1930s, sitting on the side of the road only to see this 1934 Ford pickup come along to save the day. Folks back then probably didn't want to have to see a tow truck, but what a cool tow truck this is today. The beautifully redone classic is obviously done retrieving broken-down cars, and it's up for sale over at Gateway Classic Cars.

Big Capacity
The classic Ford rides on a 1913 Locomobile chassis that was produced in Bridgeport, Connecticut, while the rigging system is a Holmes 485 unit. Since each boom is rated to tow two tons, the truck has a combined rating of four tons, which was more than enough back in the '30s.

Swap Needed
The classic Ford tow rig originally came equipped with a Flathead V8 and four-speed manual transmission, which the seller still has in its possession and can be included in the sale. However, they also swapped in a Chevy 283 V8 and four-speed manual, so hopefully whoever buys this beauty will right the ship and put the Flathead back in it where it belongs.

Spartan Cabin
The interior is pretty much what you'd expect from this era, and by that we mean spartan. There's a black vinyl bench seat and a dashboard, and that's pretty much it. But back in this era, trucks were used for work and little else, so reliable simplicity was the way to go.

Nicely Done
The black accents match the red bits on the inside and outside quite nicely in what is one of the more popular color combinations of all time. Overall, this classic Ford has been restored quite nicely and looks parade or show-ready from every angle.

Endearing Qualities
The truck has been in the same family since the 1950s, so it obviously endeared itself to them. And who can blame them? There's just something about cool old work trucks that everyone likes, especially when they're painted Fire Engine Red.

Looking Good
With any luck, someone will scoop up this hard-working classic and do it some justice by giving it back its old drivetrain. But in the meantime, we'll just ignore that little oversight and admire how good this '34 Ford looks from the outside!
