Ford was building tough trucks from the very beginning, it seems.

Built Ford Tough

Ford trucks have long been known for being "Built Ford Tough," offering up solid reliability and dependability along the way. This is true even of very early Ford pickups, however, including this 1931 Model AA that was recently rescued from long-term storage by YouTuber Jennings Motorsports.

Simple Machine

Early Ford trucks like this were obviously quite simple compared to today's ultra-complex vehicles loaded with amenities, and in this case, that's a good thing. The Model AA was the larger heavy-duty rig of its time, and was mostly used for commercial purposes, but has since become a popular hot rod and restoration candidate.

Long Term Storage

This particular 1931 Model AA had been sitting in a barn for 30 years, and the owner was planning on taking it to the scrapyard to clear out some space. Luckily, our host was able to swoop in and save it, which this particular truck clearly deserves.

Solid Shape

The Model AA proved to be in pretty excellent condition considering the fact that it's been sitting for so long, as it doesn't have any major rust issues, either. The paint has been redone at some point along the way, and the interior actually looks pretty darn good too after someone reupholstered the seat at some point.

Roaring to Life

The next question is, will it run? Our host spends a little bit of time tinkering around with the original four-cylinder powerplant, and that's all it takes to bring it roaring back to life. It's a pretty amazing feat and a true testament to how reliable these old trucks really are.

Practically Unkillable

Jennings Motorsports proceeds to drive the Model AA around the yard a little bit, and it chugs along quite nicely. With just 40 horsepower on tap, the 1.5-ton pickup is obviously not going to win any drag races, but we know that it's practically impossible to kill, or at least this one is.

Piece of History

These trucks aren't exactly highly sought-after collectibles at the moment, and aren't worth a ton of money, either. But they're very important pieces of Blue Oval history, and that alone makes this old heavy-duty truck worth saving.
