10 Best Ford Trucks of the Last 10 Years (RANKED!)
From powerful Super Dutys to economical compact trucks, these are the 10 best Ford trucks of the last decade.
10 Years of Great Trucks!
Ford has been making pickup trucks for a long time, so choosing the ten best in history is a daunting task. Choosing the ten best from the last ten years is a bit more manageable. However, it is still not what we would call an easy task. Especially since we decided not to just list them, but to rank them. Since 2015, Ford has given us some outstanding trucks. From updated Super Dutys to insanely powerful Raptors. How do you narrow the list down to just ten? Well, you first have to realize that some really good trucks are going to be left off the list. Then you focus on the trucks that give the most value. That value is measured in terms of speed, towing, looks, features, reliability and of course price. Which ten Ford trucks in the last decade do we think are the best? Keep reading to find out.
10. 2021 Ford Ranger
The 2021 Ford Ranger might not be the most exciting truck in the world. However, it is one of the most reliable. J.D. Power gave the 2021 Ranger a quality and reliability score of 87/100. That is one of the highest scores for any pickup truck in the last decade. It beat the 2023 Honda Ridgeline, 2022 Toyota Tundra, and even the 2023 Toyota Tacoma. Sometimes you just need a solid and reliable truck and that is the 2021 Ford Ranger.
9. 2022 - 2025 Maverick Lariat – 2.0L with 4K Tow Package
The Ford Maverick is THE compact truck at the moment. And the sweet spot in the lineup is the Lariat trim with the 2.0L engine and the 4K Tow Package. This gets you a nicely equipped all-wheel drive truck with some decent towing ability for less than $40,000 brand new.
8. 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor
We lost the V8 Raptor with the second generation, but in just about every other way, this truck was superior to the first generation. More power, better fuel economy, more speed, and so on. It is, of course, an off-road beast but also extremely comfortable on the road and can be used as a daily driver. Oh, and the Raptor just looks awesome. And in 2017 these trucks were still a bit of a bargain. A new Super Crew version was just over $52,000. A new F-150 Raptor today is 50 percent more expensive. A brand-new F-150 Raptor is also a wonderful truck, but we didn’t know just how well we had it back in 2017.
7. 2021 - 2025 F-150 XLT PowerBoost Hybrid
Some folks shuddered at the thought of a hybrid pickup truck. First, Ford goes with an aluminum body, and now they introduce a hybrid? What is the world coming to? Well, PowerBoost has proven to be one heck of a powertrain for the F-150. When it first came out in 2021, the truck hit 60 mph in just 5.3 seconds. And it delivered a combined 24 mpg. That got our attention. But it wasn’t even the best part. The PowerBoost trucks introduced a more powerful Pro Power Onboard mobile generator system. You could power a worksite from the bed of your pickup truck. Brilliant.
6. 2025 F-150 STX with Lobo Package
The Lobo is the F-150 street performance truck. And while we are disappointed that it is not a real performance truck in the same way as the first two generations of the F-150 Lightning, there's still a lot to like about the Lobo. You get distinct, murdered out looks and standard V8 power in a truck that stays below the $60K mark if you go easy on the options.
5. 2023 - 2025 F-250 XL Crew Cab
If you just need a work truck that can do some heavy lifting, this is the way to go. The base engine is now the 6.8L ‘minizilla’ V8, which offers decent grunt and up to 17,000 pounds of towing capacity. This truck is not loaded with luxury features, so it might not impress the country club crowd. But for about $55K you can get yourself a very capable Super Duty.
4. 2023 - 2025 F-150 Tremor
Why is the F-150 Tremor so good? It does about 90 percent of what the F-150 Raptor can do off-road, and it can tow a lot more on road. Plus, the Tremor's $15K less expensive, and comes standard with a V8 engine. We consider that a good deal. For most people who don’t live next to a desert, the Tremor is the better choice than the Raptor, and we love the Raptor.
3. 2024 - 2025 Ranger Raptor
When you consider the fact that the Ranger Raptor starts at less than $60K, you realize that this might be the best Raptor model in the entire Ford portfolio. You get a powerful V6 that can be made even more powerful with a simple tune. You get all the Raptor off-road goodies. It can tow over 5,500 pounds and has a payload capacity of 1,375 pounds, so it can still put some work in. And the smaller size makes it more manageable on the street and on the trail. We were begging for this truck for years. Now that we finally got it, we realize that it is one of the best Ford trucks of the last decade.
2. 2023 - 2025 F-150 Raptor R
The F-150 Raptor R is stupid. And we mean that in the best way possible. The $114K starting price is stupid. However, the 720-horsepower supercharged V8 is just as stupid. In a good way. The 37-inch tires, dual valve shocks, and more will help you have stupid fun almost anywhere. This truck is a riot and one of the best from Ford in the last ten years. But not quite THE best.
1. 2023 - 2025 F-350 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab 6.7L
This truck is going to set you back about $80K. That's some serious money. But you get a serious amount of truck in exchange. Plenty of room for the whole family and plenty of creature comforts to keep them all happy. Need to take it to work? No problem, this truck can tow about 11 tons without breaking a sweat. The F-350 Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab with the 6.7L Power Stroke is really tough to beat for its combination of capability, comfort level, and price. That is why we think it is the best Ford truck since 2015.
