I used ratchet straps to compress the springs and not have to completely remove them. Tightened them up when the truck was still on the ground. Used the type of strap with the double legged hooks not the S hooks. With the straps cranked down the truck had a lowered look in the front before I put it on the jack stands. Don't forget to unbolt the bottom end of your shocks.
