Dash wiring, 1965 F100

Hello everyone, I am a complete newbie, this is my first post!

I have a 65 F100 with a standard dash. I recently purchased a new instrument cluster on ebay to replace my original. I am totally new to cars and such and am an electronic idiot. As such, I mistakingly DID NOT label which lights went where to replace the bulbs in the correct slots. However, I did find out which bulbs fit into the Alternator light and oil light slots, as they were both lit up when I turned the power on. However, the next day, the Alternator light doesn't work! I even replaced the bulb to see if that was the case, and it still doesn't work. The other thing, is that when I was removing the old instrument cluster, a couple of pieces fell out that I couldn't even see and I have NO idea where they go. Could some of you experts out there help me as to where I might get help in properly installing this new instrument cluster?
Thanks a million. By the way, the peices that fell out, this forum will not allow me to attach a picture, I have a red and a blue wire fitting and a metal cyllinder about 3/4" tall, 1" wide with one end closed. hope this helps.
Thanks.

Question

Did you go from a round speedo to a sweep speedo, or just upgrade to the sweep speedo with bonus gauges?

As far as the lights go turn you headlights on that will tell you where your back lights need to go the turn signals should be easy. As far as the alt light not working check to mack sure that you have a ground strap from the metal of the dash to the back of your new cluster. That will help a lot.

I bought one of the wiring diagrams for my 64 and have used the heck out of it. I would suggest, if you plan to keep this truck and do upgrades and such as you go, that maybe it would be a good purchase. Some of the guys on here could probably e-mail you the diagrams also.

Slightly off wiring subject but can anyone tell me an identification # for the lamps that go in the round speedo. I have a parts manual that does not go quite far enough to locate the lamps for this 1965 F100 Standard cab.

Any help would be appreciated.

1965/66 F100/250 2WD Standard Cabs came with the round speedo instrument cluster.

1965/66 F100/250 2WD Custom Cabs & Rangers came with the plastic chrome sweep speedo instrument cluster (see parts catalog pic).

The ammeter (10850) and oil pressure (9273) gauges were an option, so some clusters have them, some do not.

If you swapped this cluster into your truck, be aware that you will also need the wiring harness for this cluster. This harness plugged into the dash harness, was used specifically for these gauges.

Two different harnesses, with or without optional oil pressure and ammeter gauges.

If the oil pressure gauge is present, you need the C5TZ-9B339-B adapter that the oil warning light sender and the oil pressure gauge sender thread into.

I have found this website for wiring my 1965 F100, but is is not the custom cab dash.

1965 Ford Truck Wiring Diagrams - FORDification.info - The '61-'66 Ford Pickup Resource

Does anybody have the diagram for the custom cab dash, if so please email to jlong0420001@yahoo.com

Also any direction in locating the Jim Osborn Reproductions wiring manual for my truck would also be swell.

It would be much appreciated.

The CC dash and SC dash use the same harness. Only difference is the CC has an additional harness for the Alt and Oil gauges (see post 9)
