Revisiting and reconsidering a Ranger in 2020 to 2023 range!
After pondering the costs of what it would take to purchase even a pre-owned 2020/2021 F-150,...I have come to the conclusion that an F-150 will NOT be financially feasible or practical for me. There are some "red flags" also causing me to have concerns about the F-150 as well,...biggest one being the intake valve issue with 2021 and 2022 2.7L EcoBoost engines. Plus Ford has had other recalls on the F-150. Main thing is financial affordability. Would I like to have an F-150? Yes? Is it financially feasible and practical for me to have one with my budget? No! Having said all that,...I am revisiting and reconsidering going with a Ranger IF I go back to having a truck.
Here are AT LEAST five factors guiding my decision to go back to a Ranger.
1. Affordability for my budget
2. Practicality/feasibility
3. Fuel efficiency with the 2.3L EcoBoost 4 cylinder engine VS. the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 in an F-150!
4. Size of truck and Easier parking/maneuverability while driving.
5. Reliability
So,...a 2021/2022 Ford Ranger XL Super Cab 2WD,...OR 4x4 if budget will allow it,...is back at the top of my list! I can't go newer than 2023,though in a pre-owned truck,...2023 is newest I can/will go! Other vehicles on my list to consider are a 2021 Ford Escape SE,and 2021 Ford Edge SE IF I can't do the Ranger!
My 2020 was a good truck, I just needed a bigger one to pull my new car hauler... with my new (to me) '58 F-350 on it. I traded it in at 30k and it did let me down once... injector on #4 stuck open and left me stranded on the interstate hundreds of miles from home. Fixed under warranty and I went on my merry way. One helluva light duty truck that can handle more than it's rated for.
