ZF5 Transmission swap on 1984 f350 driveline concerns
I am working on planning out a ZF5 transmission swap into my 1984 F350 460 4x4, (which currently has a T-19), for the overdrive gear and for a more modern feel. I have been researching this topic heavily and noted that the ZF5 transmission I use must come off a 460 (or have a 460 bell housing), it must be a 4x4, and it will bolt directly to my engine with a little bit of tunnel shifter hole modification.
my questions are: do I need to modify my driveshafts at all? Do I need to change out my T-19 transmission support bar that goes across the frame rails?
is there any other important things I should know before doing this swap? I also saw something about a reverse switch in another thread and that ZF5 ones are expensive. Can I just reuse my T-19 one? Thank you
edit:
also I just installed a new LUK clutch kit which I believe the clutch disc was 11 1/16”, part number is: 07022. Will this work with a ZF5? I have a hydraulic clutch setup.
