pirate4x4_camo has passed away

This forum knew him as the Excursion suspension modification guy, but lots of folks remember him as one of the founders of pirate4x4.com, the premier 4x4 forum of the early 2000s. (His screen name there was just 'Camo'.) Really smart guy, and quite a character.

I have talked to him on the phone many years ago, I always wondered why he became silent on this forum the last several years. Was he battling something?

Very sad news to hear, Pirate was a great asset to our community and was a suspension expert with years of off road racing behind him. He will be missed.

No, it looks like he got into sailing and (I think) was living on a boat.

Unfortunate for sure. I read a post this morning on his FB page, they had discovered 2 Atrial aneurysms' Feb 2024.

those aneurysms do not respect age, I have lost family members half my age to them

my sister had a stroke last August 2025, we were fortunate to get her int the ER in 45 minutes total time from when we found her ( about 10 minutes after supper ) she didn't take her pills, so we took them to her bedroom and found her slumped over... 911 and a fast ambo saved her.
