I was trying to see what I was starting with. I’ve never seen one of these apart and wasn’t sure what to expect. Service manual didn’t show much where I was looking. A parts manual probably would have been better.

That's a very clean engine, a good candidate for resurrection. It must have been vatted and likely rebuilt in the not-too-distant path, and running on detergent oil since.
