My inlaws don't have a garage to park their truck, and squirrels have chewed through the wiring harness.
This has happened 4x. Each time, they have to pay money to get it fixed and sometimes insurance covers it and sometimes not. 2004 F150 lariat. they have tried mothballs. any products to help stop this like special wires or harness cover? please any advice would be appreciated.
I've had a couple issues, wires chewed at the FPDM of my '07, fuel vapor return line eat into, wires across the rear between tail lights of my '77. I recall being told was because of materials used? I notice that I don't have such issues when the neighbors have a cat or two. When they are away, traveling, we gladly feed and water the cats.
We also provide tree mounted squirrel feeders and keep water in the bird bath.
Are you sure it's squirrel's that are munching the wires? Mice could be the problem also.... had critter's in my 012 Ranger so i set up traps inside the cab and got 3 within a few days.
Mice chewed up my sisters car wiring harness causing over 7 grand in damage..... lucky insurance covered most of the cost to replace the damage.
