First post/OBS F250/350 lowering beams
It's way too high. I'm doing a diy flip kit in the rear with caltracs and double adjustable QA1s and it's going to end up with ~6" drop in the rear. As for the front I'm installing 2wd i6 f150 coils and single adjustables. Should end up with 1.5"-ish of drop in the front.
I'm gonna need the front lower and no crazy >-3 degrees negative camber. The only drop beams i can find are >$800 and I'd rather fab something myself or buy used beams from someone.
Has anyone done this before without buying a kit? I need as much info as possible before cutting into factory beams or fabricating new ones.
Here's a picture from the day I got the truck!

As you might have noticed by now, not a lot of love for lowering anything, much less a 350.
There is literally nothing other than aftermarket lowering I beams that will drop the nose & keep functional steering, spring & shock response, along with tire wear.
A fully manufactured double A arm build from scratch would probably be the best path if you can weld.
There are Crown Vic swap kits out there that have been successfully done on OBS 150s, but I've never seen it done on the bigger models.
A drifting 350 would be something to see, but not sure about 4.30s. What are you going to do to power this beast?
Good luck & hope you've got a thick skin.
I have seen drop beam kits, should fit that F350 fine. Mine has same looking beams as my other two.
That rear axle is a heavy ****, I would consider swapping it for something lighter and more support. Upside you will not kill it.
EDIT - beam pic stating what not to do...

Thanks for your response! And yes I have thick skin

I figured there would be plenty of comments calling me an idiot, but I am more concerned with giving up on ideas than failing.
I want to keep the stock wheels, brakes, steering(modifying is ok), and hubs. It will stay a full float 8 lug truck.
the 4.30s are an ideal swap to break traction at will and still cruise 70mph with overdrive. Factory 4.10s are stout and I want a bit more grunt than that.
The issue with double a arms is losing the radius arms as well as the factory spindle.
the motor in it is a healthy 351 that i am carb swapping and then replacing in the near future with a 351 roller motor with cam and heads.

Thanks for the info on the beams! I guess they are made of spring steel or something...
I built an obs rallyer so I could bomb mountain dirt roads loaded with rocks, ruts, and washboards. It was an awesome time and nothing for the price could have come close to the big swing radius of the obs truck suspension. Power required for sure.
I went the opposite way and lifted it though, lowering would not have worked for what I was using it for. Lowering might render it useless for anything other than flat, do your homework for travel needs before you pull the trigger on lowering - relative to your end use goals of course.
