I went to change my cabin air filter today on my ‘24 for the first time and noticed the below harnesses just in front of the filter door. Anyone know what these are for?
Yup
dead ends for items not onboard
Often you find the other end capped off under the hood
So if yiu run out of pass thru wires
bingo you have a few options
Ford did that on purpose so people would post about it. The engineers call it the nowhereharness. See dis harness? It go nowhere!
I do wonder what could be in there on the Platinum/KR thats not on the Ultimate though, the left one has beefy wires.
I haven't checked my dash yet. But it would be ideal to identify it. Then I can figure out if any are key on power and not data lines. Then I can hide a usb charger back there and route the cables to the center dash pocket.
Yes they are for the Upfitter customization, the one with the smaller wires is for canbus and the heavier one is C290D and the connections are shown in this picture.
I ordered some mating plugs. Going to try and make a harness that uses to power a usb c plug. Will route my usb cables in the dash vs using the power point on the front.
@Neohio Do you have a part # for the plugs and do they have pigtails on them?
I do, but I don't if that makes sense...
I ordered a few different examples to confirm fitment.
Once I receive and can confirm, I will share. I bought 5 extras of 4 or 5 diff styles.
I haven't looked at my fuse panel to see if a 50a fuse will need to be added, or if it is 12v constant or key on power.
Once I have everything in hand and figured out. I can share the numbers, or offer a kit with terminated wires on it.
Pigtail for the six pin connector is SU2Z-14S411-CA, such a new number it's not even in the price tape yet. The pigtail for the 20 pin connector isn't serviced at all, at least not yet. The one for the six pin is a repair pigtail to replace the existing connector, not to be able to plug into it.
