Will 390 from 76 highboy fit into 69 Ranchero

I have a 76 F-250 highboy with an automatic C-6 transmission. I recently rebuilt this engine and would like to install it into a 69 Ranchero with a 4 speed transmission. Will they fit together ?

Yes. The FE engines were optional in those.

What 4 speed do you have?

Is it a manual transmission already?

The exhaust manifolds for those might be an issue. The heads used a different pattern for the exhaust.

It's a tight fit.

Yes there is a 4 speed transmission in the Ranchero. The hood scoop on the Ranchero says 390. And I believe that it originally came with a 390 . I'm renovating the Ranchero and figured it would be better with a 390. Instead of the 302 currently in it. So I wanted to swap the engines. The 76 highboy is my snowplow truck.

If the Ranchero currently has a 302 on the 4 speed, you will need to find a bell housing, clutch, and flywheel for the 390, which is an FE series engine. You will also need FE correct motor mounts as the 302 mounts won't fit. The 390 truck mounts may or may not work, I don't know, but I do know that the 302 motor mounts definitely won't work. Exhaust manifolds may be an issue, as 85e150 said, but the clutch/flywheel/bellhousing is the biggest issue you need to figure out, since the 302 parts definitely won't work and your truck doesn't have them (C6 auto).
