Diesel shop wants to try to reseal upper oil pan from the outside. tThey are going to use silicone. They said they have been successful on 7.3 diesels.

I have a 2015 F350 6.7 with a leak.

Any thoughts

 

That's something I'd do to a truck that was leaking but wasn't worth doing the work, or if it was leaking badly and I was poor. If cleaned thoroughly, it could work.....for how long, dunno.

 

I'd pack up and find a new diesel shop. No questions asked. lol If they half *** something like that imagine what their other work would be like.

 

I did the oil pan on my OBS 7.3 and it lasted until I rebuilt the engine. It adhered well. I had to pry that pan off. I cleaned the joint with a solvent, brushed the joint with a small brass bristled brush, cleaned it again and applied red RTV. It works, just not fancy pants.
