The Aerostar will always hold a special place for me. An impulse $83.50 purchase on eBay for an ‘87 EB shorty back in the early 2000s started a long obsession with these vans. However, life changes and unfortunately the Aerostar no longer fits my needs.
A sincere thank you to anyone who offered help over the years. These old school forums are far superior to FB or any of the newer platforms. This was no doubt one of the better sites I was on.
Its still alive. At least my 2 96's are...I think its been 20 years for me. Have not seen an aero up in vermont for 10 years...
We had it going back in the day for sure.
My 2, 92 shorty twins are still alive and well. I call them Ginger and MaryAnn. Ginger has only 83k on her and is my daily driver. I am pretty sure I am driving the oldest vehicle on the road here. I have not seen another in years. I get alot of looks and compliments. I keep no seats in Ginger so I can load me and my daughters bikes to go places for rides. MaryAnn stays in a car shelter and is my beach fishing van, stays loaded at all times with the gear, we jump in every Sunday and go to the beach to fish. MayAnn has a badly worn out passenger upper control bushings, and I am procrastinating the repair, but I only drive her once a week. I love my vans and will keep them going as long as possible. I see old freinds sometimes and they are shocked I am still driving it. Most don't know I have 2 exact twins. They of course have some quirks, but we learn to ignore them. MayAnn has around 150k on her and is my favorite, had her for over 20 years, the other about 5 years. Found her on a lot before covid and she had 67k at that time, and was garage kept, Paid $2200,, best $2200 I ever spent.

It's been maybe ten years since our family '95 gave up the ghost... awful in the slightest bit of snow when the extended space was empty, but I sure do miss that van.
Decided to lurk around the Aero forum for old time's sake. I remember seeing a few Aerostars in use in Stowe as hotel courtesy vehicles, but that was back when ours was still going strong. FWIW- There's a chimney repair guy that still runs his Aerostar shorty as a service vehicle in Springfield.
I still have my mint green 96 awd ext. I'm gonna take her to car shows. All original and hardly a scratch. Kept in a heated garage. It's an xlt. I know I'm nuts
Last week I got thumbs up recognition from a shabby aero in San Diego north county. >> Happens every half-year or so.
Also last week, with rear seats out, construction material loader crews do a double-take and comment on utility. >> Woah, what's this? Never seen it. Nice, slick.
My portfolio is populated with bmw and many mbz, but my eddie short aero is still "best concept" and "most versatile" and "most useful".
Owned & maintained 28 yrs.
Had a guy on my passenger side wave to talk, as I reached across to manually roll the window down he started laughing, I think with remembering the past. And yelled "Is that thing for sale?" I said Hell No laughing

The condition may be mint, but that is Forest Green. My van was your van's red twin brother. When I went to the dealership to buy it used, your green one was the one I wanted out of three that were available but I was a day late. No regrets whatsoever with the one we ended up with though. A true workhorse.
I'm wintering over south of Miami and north of Homestead with my '97 shorty. I drug it down here behind my 2004 motorhome using a driveshaft disconnect that's as old at the Aero but has been on several others. I haven't seen any others on this trip from St Louis. I've gotten several thumbs up and astonished looks as I drive by. At only 27 years old and 260k, it still runs great. It's getting a little cantankerous after it sits a little while when it's hot but after it starts, it smooths out again. After it sits all night, it starts fine. I've taken it on the 3-1/2 hr drive down to Key West 3 times this trip and run around in it everyday. It's sure come in handy down through the years whenever "dad" needs to help the kids move or haul something they've bought.
I've got three Aero shorties (2-'97s & a '96) and should pare down soon at my age. The neighbors think I'm a little nuts and they may be right.
