1978 f150 4x4 - Rattle can rebuild
Drug me home a project. Got for a great deal, most of the parts are there, and what isn't I think I have on the shelf.
supposedly c6 and 351m have a rebuild on them but haven't been fired. Engine turns. - I think the crank is broken
Plan is to fire it with front clip off and run it like the cam has never been broke in. Then pull it and go to cleaning/prepping.
Missing some small misc things.
I happen to have a 460 out of a 1999 propane generator with 320 hrs on it, some ported dove heads, roller rockers and some other goodies to go in it. Trying to decide how far i am going to go with cleaning things up/painting. Plan to turn loose my 4 and 7 year olds with some paint on the frame and let them help!
Plan is just a good driver, probably 2" lift with 35's.
Came with 5 matching wheels, extra door and hood.

The rear shock mounts are normally rivet mounted to the frame like an upside down cup and the very small drain groove (on the mount) gets clogged easily and they rust out and start to eat at the frame. Some folks do not like grinding rivets, so they torch them off. You can see the heat marks on the frame in your pics. Come time to replace the the mounts grinder the drain groove to be bigger and just bolt them back on. Nice project for sure.

Not my stuff, and he is willing to mail them. https://springfield.craigslist.org/p...436129147.html
That beats cutting them off another truck. And you can go eyelet to eyelet on the shocks.

Finally making some progress, cleaned out fuel lines, replaced rubber, obviously new tank and sending unit. Frustrating new unit came sized for 5/16" line.
Got old exhaust cut out and frame half assed painted. Installed stainless braided rear hose i had leftover from another project.
Have a plan to fab up shock mounts for new takeoff super duty shocks i already have. Going to pull good driveshaft and yokes from my good parts truck to replace the sloppy slip yoke/cv shaft and rear gets a long AAL for lift i have leftover from another project. I have super duty shocks to go up front and will likely just do c bushings and 2" front coils along with going thru and freshening up front end, brakes etc.
As much as I want alum heads/intake the 460 it getting some c8 heads I have and SCJ iron intake. inside engine is pristine due to propane industrial application and only slightly over 300 hrs on it. I will be added a mild voodo cam and fenderwell headers. I already have aluminum roller rockers and a 800 holley to go with it.

Cut shock mounts off parts truck and converted them to use double eyelet shocks off the rear of a super duty I had laying around. Bolted on with hardware from my used bolt bin. I tried to drill some holes to drain the mounts where they like to build up mud.
I swapped the driveshafts between parts truck and this one as well as yokes and put in new seals. went ahead and pulled the old 1310 and 1330 from the donor shaft as the rear had corroded from sitting with no bed outside for awhile, wound up having to torch the rear 1330 to get the last part out. Sanded down the shaft and got it painted. Have some spicer life series joints coming for the front and rear shafts. Picked up some hardware to bolt down the bed, so that will be next along with finagling a new hinge mount for the tailgate.
