My new (12,000 mile) Bumpside!!!
I have a 1964 F100 shortbed flareside 6cyl 4speed that I really like but it needs mainly painting. I found this new truck on Ebay and decided I could move up to a nicer truck cheaper than painting the '64. It's a '67 Flareside 8' box with a 240 6 cyl, 3 on the tree. I just use a truck to run to Home Depot and pick up things too large for my Grand Cherokee and for fun. This one has 12740 original miles. I know that sounds suspicious but after talking to the current owner about it's history and the truck's condition, I'm convinced the mileage is correct. A few light scratches and a little bubbling at the rear of the L front fender and the seam in the bed. Interior looks like new. Owner has re-lined the fuel tank, replaced fuel pump, rebuilt carb, powder coated rims silver and installed new tires and hubcaps (correct ? I know with the 3 speed and long bed it is not on the apex of desirability but for my use it's perfect. Won't pick it up till Friday as weather has been crummy in Western New York (surprise!). Can't wait to put some miles on it. What do you guys think? Chief

That truck is truly worth preserving. Have you any other pics of the engine compartment, chassis, interior?
The hubcaps aren't original; they're actually '78/'79 caps. The originals would look like these; painted, but stainless versions were also available.
Really like that '64 as well

Thanks for the input guys. I was aware that the hubcaps weren't correct and now I know what to look for. The mirrors I did not know about but will leave them on so I don't have ugly holes in my doors. Here are photos of the interior and engine bay. All that I think has been changed under the hood is the fuel pump and thermostat. I don't think those hose clamps are stock either but I will probably live with that as well. Is that style fuel pump correct? Chief

Doesn't look like they were very fussy about maintenance. Some fresh gaskets and a power wash would really make it look good. The engine color looks to be kind of gray; or is it just the greasy coating making it look bad? If it's gray, it may be a replacement engine. Also looks like the cowl rubber was re-installed upside down. You can get a replacement from carpenter or other repro parts places .

GOT IT HOME!
Drove 425 miles today to pick up my new truck. You never know when you buy something out of town what it really looks like when you get there. Got to say I was really impressed! A little bubbling on the lower drivers fender you could cover with a silver dollar and a few small scratches. Engine bay needs powerwashing. Interior is like new except the E brake light bezel is missing. Owner let me take it for a drive and WOW! Drove like a brand new truck (from 1967). No rattles or squeaks at all. Runs quiet and shifts perfectly. Rides much better than my straight axle '64. Anyway very happy with my purchase and now I get to play with it and make it even nicer. Thanks for listening guys. Chief

No such thing.

The bezel is for the Brake Pressure Differential Valve Warning Lamp, located on the left side of the dash above the parking brake control.
The warning lamp switch threads into this valve, that is located below the master cylinder. If the dual master cylinder front and/or rear reservoir is low on brake fluid, the light comes on...and stays on.
