best year ford expedition 2007 to 2017
#2
Depends on what you want... Ford continued to make improvements as years went on. So to most the 2017 would be “the best”. However that also means you get the EcoBoost motor.
More power. Supposedly better fuel economy. however some people are up in the air about long term reliability especially considering the twin turbos. Fuel economy real world isn’t that improved. No V8 burble...
I would have loved a newer truck but when I got mine but I was on a budget. Mine is a 2010 fully optioned out and I love it. I didn’t want anything older then 2009 as that’s when the 6 speed trans was introduced and the 5.4 got a power bump (to 310). 2010 was also when they introduced trailer sway control.

You know what, I want to expand on this question.
I'm gonna be in the market whenever my 2003 5.4(2v) decides to die. Might be a while since it has 220k miles and ZERO issues.
when it does, I want another Expedition for sure..question is, what year? I love the 5.4 but I hate the 3v problems that a lot of earlier models like 04-09 had on here. Supposedly they fixed the issue in 08 on the f150 but there are still stories around.
I probably will aim at a 12+
budget is going to be under 20k, so I know ill be looking at higher mileage like 100k+
but what do you guys think?

This video shows the difference from the 04-08 trucks to the newer 2009 and up trucks, the spark plugs and heads were completely redesigned. And they are no longer an issue.
The 3V motors are still very particular about oil, needs to be changed often (every 5 k) this is imperative for the cams and phasers that control them.
Thw other benifit of 09 and up trucks is the transmission . The six speed alone is worth the premium. Stronger, more towing capacity, better fuel economy NO drawbacks.
