2006 f-250 vin on 5.4 engine location
#5
Ford has not stamped the VIN on the engine for a very long time. The engine does have a serial number somewhere (each engine does) but it is not going to match the VIN on the dash or door frame sticker.
The VIN is stamped somewhere on the frame in addition to on the dash and stickers, but you need to do a lot of paint sanding to read it. Also some other hidden locations, but this info is not generally shared as it is part of the information LE uses to close down chop shops. Anyway, it is not on the engine.

"Numbers matching" on a Ford is a gray thing. For the engine, it means it has to be the right size with a serial number in the approximate date range that could have been put in the truck.
"Numbers Matching" does not really matter for these trucks, they are not really candidates for full restoration. An early V8 4-speed Mustang convertible? It's important then.
So what's up? Why is "numbers matching" important to you? Curious about the background for your question.
