New 6 Gen owner
Just picked up a new project, a 1978 F-150 from a neighbor. Probably paid too much for it, but it's all original, in pretty good shape, with only 86,000 miles on it. Lots of oxidization and surface rust, an exhaust leak, and a few minor oil leaks, but otherwise drives almost like it did in 78. We're the 3rd owner, person we bought it from bought it from his brother, the original owner. Guy is a retired Ford mechanic, so it's been taken care of. Looking forward to the process,
1978 round headlight
Seat has been replaced, anyone have a pic of an original that would have been in it?

Your seat was likely plain or weaved vinyl. If you look on your door tag and look at the code under BODY, you can take that code and look up what your seat was using this page... Decoding '73-'79 Ford Truck VIN Tags - FORDification.net
Or, if you like, you can get a Marti Report and it will give you that and more info about your truck.
On my trucks, the body codes are as follows...
CRM - Jade Cloth/Vinyl Ranger XLT Bench Seat / Super Cab Styleside
AB4 - Blue Vinyl Custom Bench Seat Styleside

Excellent truck with that LWB Flareside bed!! I thought I spotted that in the first picture! Is that 'running board' chromed, between the cab and rear wheel?
Welcome to FTE! And you probably better inspect, and check the date codes on, those tires. My truck had those same tires on it when I bought it almost two years ago, and they were cracked all to heck. Turns out they were from 1999! They still held up for well over 5000 miles...
I usually don't shop at Walmart, but they have a good deal on Goodyear Wranglers. I bought them online, and then drove down there and got all four on the truck and out the door, for $352! I think it was $75 a tire plus mount and balance last summer, but I checked a few weeks ago and they were $70 a tire!

Thanks all. Yes, the step is chrome, they had installed chrome diamond plate running boards back in the late 80's and had the step chromed to match. I have the running boards, not sure if I'll put them on or not. We'll see. When we paint the truck. might keep the chrome step rather than paint them back, I kinda like it.
The tires are shot, probably 10 years old or more, lots of tread but are dry rotted. This thing sat most of the last 15 years and wasn't driven much. Guy I bought it from is a ford truck guy, this was one of 4 he has, he also has a really cool 1951 stepside, a 90's 4x4, and a newer diesel dually. Older retired guy, living in a very small town, so not much miles on any of them. His 51 is pretty sweet though, he drives it most of the time. I honestly don't know what the truck is worth, but I think we did ok, for being almost all original, with no real body damage other than paint and surface rust. Probably not very many long bed step sides out there with only 86,000 original miles!
