Pulling in or backing into a parking space
I did a search and i couldn't find anything about this in this forum. So i did a google search and read that some truck owners prefer to back in instead of pulling into a parking space. I've experimented with this on my 2018 250 and I think I like backing in better. Any comments?

I prefer to back in whenever I can. I practiced, alot, when i was younger so i wasn't that guy taking forever to park. I've seen some places marked with signs where its illegal to back into parking spots. Usually on busy roads with on street parking spots.
I used to be the guy that would say "If ya have trouble with normal daily driving scenarios, maybe you shouldn't be driving that truck." But even I've noticed the parking spaces have gotten tighter every time they redo a parking lot around here. I have trouble getting out of my car someone's because I can't fully open the door..

I get defensive driver training yearly through work and one of the main points is to back up as little as possible. Plan your route to avoid backing. When parking in stalls, use your signal light, drive past so you get a clear visual of the spot, back in. If someone is on your ***, the signal light, as well as steering into an angle before backing will show your intent to back. Only other duty drivers will understand this maneuver, but, not everybody knows as much as us duty owners!

After college I became a FedEx driver. We were taught to back in at all times. If you pull in nose-first, when you come back to your truck to leave, the situation might have changed and make it difficult to reverse out. When you are parking, you know what the current situation is, which is why you should always back in.
My son just received his driving permit and he’s already practicing backing into parking spaces and learning why this is the safest way to park.

I park about as far away from others as possible, and go for a pull-through if available. My CCLB in most parking lots takes about 1-1/2 spaces in length.
Have backed in on occasion, like when I was bringing the truck home and stayed at a hotel in Dallas. The only way to be out of the fire lane was to back in and let the bed push a hedge back "a bit."
