53-56 tailgate latches

just wondering if anyone remembers using datsun tailgate latches on f1-00,s or any other truck for that matter i have a set that im going to use because my tailgate has a very slight twist in it which makes it hard to close completly on one side so ,, what im looking for is pictures of the catch being used on the other side of the latch ? anyone ??

I am building a 51 F-1, so I can't offer a suggestion. Just don't want your post to go unanswered.

Even though I am not building an F100 and I am along ways from working on the bed and tailgate, I have given this subject some thought. I like the idea of using tailgate cables from a later model truck.

There are so many out there to choose from.

Has anyone come up with different ideas?

Post photos - We are interested in your ideas.

Thanks

Dan

Reread Mrf-100's post and forgot to include a request to see photos of what you all have done with tailgate latches - photos of those too.

Mid-Fifty has some nifty tailgate latch assemblies that I like.

Thanks

Dan

i have the chrome ones that burnettd01 has posted-these were on my 56 F100 when i bought it.one side of my box out a little.these pull it right in and make it real tight.i like it.i also put little padlocks on them.if you are thinking about using cables try any boat place they are stainless.you might find a few things that you can use at a boat place

Mar-K makes some of the nicest latches I have seen...not cheap and not the easiest installation but very clean.

I was thinking of doing this on my 81 F100 flare side and may but my brother is sending me a gate & chains so have to see how that all fits first.

I would like to see how you did both parts.
