Heater Box New Core Dealer Add on AC 68 F100

I bought a new heater core thinking once the dealer add ac was removed it would be on the fire wall . After the add on ac was removed it was discovered that the heater core was moved into the dealer add on ac. Anyone know of a source for oem heater box? The add on A/C is cracked, rusted and beyond repair.

Are you talking a new heater box assembly? I don't think I've seen them offered but you can buy replacement parts for rebuilding a used one. Should be lots of used ones available as it's not something many people would need.

Here's one that should fit your 68. Not cheap.

Here's a seal kit from Dennis Carpenter. If you get a used box you can clean it up and repaint it to look like new.

I refurbished mine last year. Here are all the parts for the box. Hope this helps.

Core, metal back plate for box and rubber connector to vent hole in cab

This is the box body. I believe it's fiberglass

Vent flappers locations.

Flappers

This is what it looks like complete

When I took it apart I had to drill out the rivets. When I reassembled I used ss screws and nuts

Let me know if you have questions. I'll try to help.
I forgot. The fan and motor too

Thanks 77CC428 That gave me a good idea on what direction I need to take. I'm going to get some pic's of the dealer ad on A/C and post them to see what, if any, parts on it will apply to a retro or used oem heater box.

Are you sure the A/C is dealer installed?

THREE different types of A/C for 1968/72 F100/350. All are hang-on units, as their bezels bolt to the bottom of the dash.

1) Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are in the same panel as the heater controls.

The A/C expansion valve is located behind the glove box that has a shorter liner. There is another glove box located within the bezel.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2) Deluxe dealer installed A/C is not combined with the heater.

The two A/C switches are located within the bezel that bolts under the entire underside of the dash.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3) Economy dealer installed A/C is not combined with the heater.

The two A/C switches are located within the bezel that bolts under the center of the dash.

See post #9 for factory installed A/C pic.

btw: Where in OK do you live?

Thanks Number Dummy. I guess I just look at unit hanging down and assume it's a dealer add on.
I do know this the heater core is inside the unit and the control levers indicate A/C and not just heater.

Post #8 lists the three types of A/C .. Post #9 shows the parts catalog pic of the factory A/C dash parts.

I just returned to CA after driving 2,300 miles of mostly back roads in OK

Interesting on your back road trip in Oklahoma. A military convoy antique military vehicles just passed by me headed for Santa Monica I believe. They are trekking Route 66.
I watched them pass through Edmond Ok about an hour ago. People were standing on the street corners watching them pass in the rain. They were given the green light all the way by local PD and OHP.

I was in Edmond last Friday afternoon, then to OKC Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Flew into OKC on the 11th, then headed south on 44 to TX

On the 12th, stopped at the U-Drop-Inn in Shamrock TX .. There were several Brits heading west on Route 66 riding rented Harley's.

Route 66 ends at Santa Monica Blvd. & Ocean Avenue (I'm a S/M native). I drove most of the OK portion. Already have driven Route 66 in AZ, CA & NM and a bit of it in IL

Bill, That's a long way to drive. How did you get from Muskogee to CA.? Seems like a lot of miles to drive in one state to get to another!!

We don't smoke marijuana in Muskogee
We don't take our trips on LSD
We don't burn our draft cards down on Main Street
We like livin' right, and bein' free
We don't make a party out of lovin'
We like holdin' hands and pitchin' woo
We don't let our hair grow long and shaggy
Like the hippies out in San Francisco do

I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee,
A place where even squares can have a ball
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse,
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all.

Leather boots are still in style for manly footwear
Beads and Roman sandals won't be seen
Football's still the roughest thing on campus
And the kids here still respect the college dean

I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee
A place where even squares can have a ball.
We still wave Old Glory down at the courthouse
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all
And white lightnin's still the biggest thrill of all
In Muskogee, Oklahoma, USA.

Thank you Merle.

Flew into OKC on the 11th, rented a 2017 F150 Stupor Crew from Budget.

TX: Vernon to Paducah to Matador to Shamrock then east to OK on 66 / KS: Coffeyville to Baxter Springs, then south on 66 to Quapaw / OK: Too many cities (including Muskogee)/towns to list.
