1966 f-250 4x4 cowl to hood seal

I just got a cowl to hood seal from rock auto. It doesn't go all the way down the sides where the hood rounds over. It only fills the gap along the flatter part of the hood. Is That right or did I get the wrong one? I pictured it following the whole gap along the back of the hood not just across the top part.

It extends about two inches on either side of the weld seam in the cowl. It sits about 5/8" in front of the vertical portion of the cowl. Photos, probably easier to understand. The new one I got was from C&G Ford Parts, and had the right profile like the original in the photos here.

The function of that seal is to keep elements that are in the engine compartment from flying up on the windshield or down into the cowling air intake while you are driving. Dirt, Water, Mud and ???
When driving, the air under the hood becomes high pressure and blows that air up through there along anything mixed with it.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate taking the time to get photos. Looks like i got the right one. I have leaks right by my fuse box. Next step is seam seal the inside seam under the dash and plug up the 30 extra holes in the firewall. Then hopefully i figure out a way to get the crap out of the cowl vents and get any drain holes around there working again. This is my #1 issue right now because im starting to blow fuses from the water getting in the fuse box.

You do know there is an access plat right in front of the front cab mount towers.

Yep, i saw them. Didnt open them up yet to see where they go. Im working on stripping everything off my firewall right now so i can sand it down, seal all the holes and paint it. I'll do a writeup once i get done.

What goes down that cowl vent, ends up behind those access plates. At the very bottom of that body support, is a drain. You can be assured that it is most likely plugged up - which means RUST. I went and drilled all the drain sections on my vehicles. Made em all bigger.
