In the JY the other day and saw a diaphragm looking thing attached to these two holes on the driver side fender support. Didn't spend much time tracing the hoses on it but was curious as to what it was.

I cant tell anything from the picture of what holes you are talking about but could it be fords speed control?

Nailed it! The '86 USED to have that on the fender support. There's a cable from that module that goes to the throttle linkage.

Yep, that'd be it. Thanks!

I should have MS Paint'ed some indicators on the image but in my defense I thought the two holes stood out pretty clear and centered. Next time...

Same setup was used on the older trucks as well. My '82 F150 has the Cruise control mounted there as well. The 351M or 460 I cant remember which one it was but they had the cruise control mounted on a tri bar tube bracket on the back side of the intake manifold. I believe I still have the bracket I took off as it was being removed as it didn't work.

Must have been a 460 as the M/400's have the cruise unit where it is in the picture.

Must have been then. I didn't put the engine in it just did the brakes on it and knew it was either a M or a 460 but wasn't fully sure. Havent really seen many 460s in person to know the look just yet.

My 460 and my 6.9 both had the cruise in that location as well. Wasn't either of those.
Perhaps it was a dealer or aftermarket cruise setup and not factory?
