Originally posted by tdbb Hellooo, had the Airaid on for a week, Emissions Control light came on after 200 mile, I took the truck in to the dealer and said the Mass airflow sensor is causing this, He could not tell me A/F ratio or % of how much leaner this system made the engine run, He could, and did tell me anything goes wrong, He will not warrenty any problems. He did say the code was in memory, the light is off for now, I'll wait and see if it comes back on. Sounds koool though. I'll try for fuel milage again but, It is very cold and in 4 wheel alot with.
Really (Emmisions Light)?. I have a Dakota 4.7L and my light keeps going on as well. The only mods I've made is Flowmaster Dual Exhaust and a K&N Air Filter (Made the changes at the same time). Interestingly, the light started going on right after that. I took it to the dealer when it orriginally happened (still on Warrantee) and they told me that it was a computer programming defect that they were aware of. They asked me to bring it back when they got the right programming fix. I did, the light went off and all was well... until recently. Off warrantee and the light is back.
Reading the above gets me a little concerned about the control light and warrantee info.... has anyone else had the problem after placing an air intake system in???
Also, would like to know, based on past experience, which seems to be better... K&N or Airaid or others??? (thanks)
I could tell what felt like an increase in power. The truck also seems to run effortlessly at lower speeds say around 50-55 mph. As far as the gas mileage goes I will need some more time to see if it increases. Because now due to the Flowmaster exhaust and new intake I can't keep my heavy-foot off the gaspedal.
i have just installed a new cold air intake made by volant and k&n the sound is great and like a poster said i cant keep my foot off the gas cause i got a forty series flowmaster as well.....so im loving the sound and power now im waiting on the power programmer to come out...........
Just cruisin' thru and thought I'd add a comment.
A few weeks back I ordered a MAC system for my 4.2 from Motorhaven. I am very happy with it. Fit and finish are really nice. The air filter on mine seemed fine. Maybe they've improved their QC?
As stated in a previous thread, it DOES look really nice!
Does anyone have the volant intake on the 2004 f-150. I heard people talking about the trucks check engine light comes on because of emission recalibration.
I just purchased one before I heard of problems, with intake upgrades. I wanted to know who, if anyone did the change and how they are getting along
