Reason: like above
Try unplugging the ICP sensor and see it the truck will start and idle. My understanding is that it will idle with the ICP unplugged altogether. The ICP is located in the driver's side head near the front of the engine.
We need to know if you are getting fuel pressure . It will take 2 people to do this .. There is a schrader valve on the fuel pressure regulator , Use a regular tire gauge while cranking to test pressure ..
Only dies when slowing down? When you are able to get it restarted, if you rev the rpms a bit does it still die just as quick? How does it stall? Like someone shut the key off or spit and sputter a bit first? Any noises as it's dying? WTS light working normal? Got a chip in the truck? Is the engine oil full?
What about fuse #22? Doesn't really sound like it's the fuel bowl heater but I know when mine went out I went through this... Truck would start and run for a second or two then quit.
full of oil. when it dies it is like the key is just turned off. hpop full also. it started and got me home last night when i got a ride and tried her one more time, got me to work this morning also but not right, every now and then its like it will raise rpms a lil. gonna change oil today and clean my cold air filter as it keeps trippin the replace thingy magiger that turns yeller.......idk????? hope it helps as were suppose to get up to a foot of snow from now tell tomorrow
thanks again for all the input, FTE is the best I have found for getting me back on the road.........Im ford to the bone and also own a 78' swb 4x4 and the 73-79 guys are great too. I believe the truck is as good as new. if you check my post you'll see where my turbo had went out recently. I lost alot of oil driving it home and this was just after a oil change. when I put new turbo on I just added oil and that was a mistake, the oil was very sludgey as I cleaned my filter and intake well cause it was nasty....as soon as I changed the oil yesterday and started the truck I could tell the difference immediatly. I have seen where these trucks can act up on old oil and I now know that is a fact. dont be to hard on me I usually am pretty good at pm for my ole beaters. o and btw, I have had cummins and the hemis, chevys and rice burners. my 97 psd and ole 78 are the only two vehichles i have ever owned that do not use oil.
