Yeah, caught me by surprise.
Service centre said the computer tabulates by calendar time as well as mileage (6 months or 8 thousand km). Scary smart, that computer...
Well, I think I'll wait a bit longer, thank-you.
I asked if I could re-set it and service centre said sure, but it will only set it to come on again in another 6 months.
What I would prefer to do is either turn the warning off or set it to go strictly by mileage. Could not find either option in the manual.
Any thoughts?
Well, I said nothing of ignoring the manufacturers's maintenance schedule. In fact, the schedule calls for an oil change at 8k km (5k miles) which I intend to adhere to. What I have issue with is the truck telling me that after so many days have passed, regardless of whether you have been driving or not, you need to change your oil.
Fact is, I was in the Sand-box for 4 months and the truck sat. You suggest I change my oil anyway?
Anyone see a problem here? Far as I know, engine oil doesn't have a shelf life of one year.
