yea i feel like it is a small semi, not a big pickup
and yea that is why i have labored over which coolant to put in!!!
i would like to get cat but it is a long ways to find it, but i may do it since i won't have to do it again any time soon.
I always use prestone, not the pre diluted, but I only use 4 gallons then fill with water,We almost never have freezing issues.I never heard of SCAs till I stated on this site
If and when possible, use distilled water for mixing, versus tap water, less stuff to turn into deposits that way. I can buy 5 gallon jugs at the grocery store for about 6-10 bucks, pretty cheap for something that only gets done every few years.
Personally I would NOT spend the bucks on ELC ... Just as soon as you fill it you'll find a leak, bad hose, bad temp switch/sender ... something that'll cause you to have to drain way way before it's life ends ... Yup, you can catch it and put it back in if it's not dirty, got a 50 50 chance it'll be dirty ... Now you wasted all them dollars!
Just use a decent green coolant, put Nalcool/Napacool in it and forget it!
A bottle of test strips is inexpensive and will last you a life time if you keep them in a cool dark dry location, you only need to test once a year, twice if you're **** like me!
Personally I would use the test strips with whatever antifreeze I used.
why? you cant add sca additive to elc. they work against each other. now, i remember about 5 years ago i remember seeing a piece that you would drop in your radiator under the cap, and there was a thin cable and ring to keep it under the cab so you could pull it out. it was either to stop electrolysis or it was made to be eaten instead of your engine.
To see what it comes out at. There has been several reports of the antifreeze being overcharged, I'm not sure if this comes from mixing too much antifreeze or what.
