I still haven't managed to locate the wiper delay near the parking brake. I took out the front dash around the light and wiper switch and still can't seem to find anything other than the big bundle of wires and a few small black boxes over wire connections. One thing to note a a black wire that comes off the wiper switch like a ground that is not connected anywhere that looks like the tip was ripped off, any idea where it should go?
I realized after looking at some photos of this engine I am missing a screen that goes in between the intake and the air filter. Parts stores don't have a replacement but I was thinking if it is a big deal I could make one. Any thoughts about the importance of this screen?-the gaps are about 1/4" square. Also I noticed my big intake hose was missing when I bought the truck, all I have is the circular intake that sits on top of the engine, is the intake hose that goes to the grill very important?
i wouldnt be too concerned about the screen.but with the hose to the front that may help with some more power because it will be getting cooler and cleaner air
Also how was 26 chosen? Seem like a pretty arbitrary number, but I guess that's what a serial spammer in hiding like me might say.
I personally do not like the PM system when it's used for troubleshooting and exchange of info pertinent to working on our trucks. I feel everyone misses out on important info, which is what the board is all about, exchanging info so everyone benefits.
So when people PM me asking how to fix this or that, I rarely answer and hope they would ask the question on the board. That way besides my opinion, they may get several others or comments from people and their experiences.

Should I piggy back it off of another ground or try to track down where it originally went. How do I figure it what is a ground other than it being green?

I agree. and just for that I'll share some of the juicy content that I got via private means...
This is how I need to fix the leak coming from an old o-ring on top of the water/fuel separator.
OK maybe not, can't figure out how to link my images, I thought I had it correct, they are hosted at flickr, for instance Filter head parts names on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
which is what I pasted when I clicked insert image. boo. wish i could attach.
Let's try this again
*thank rupejosh for the photos

I'm sure your right. So far I haven't felt like I needed more power except for once when I was pulling two horses up some 7% or higher slope mts heading into Asheville. That was an incredible drive but I must admit I was worried the first few times that lost my torque or whatever it is going up the mt and ended up having to get over and muscle the load up the mt in 3rd like an 18 wheeler. That was the one time where I was thinking that the intake hose would have been a big improvement because of the thinner air and heavy load. This truck has really saved my butt and I totally think it's worth lots of attention now. There is still a good way to go. A few things I didn't mention that I'll be working on in the near future and would appreciate advice:
1. I mentioned this was an auction vehicle bought "as is". With that came the steering column which had obviously either been broken to be stolen or just hot wired for regular use. In doing that the whole column is messed up and is loose and wobbly. Also the cruise control in the wheel does not work, having that working would be really huge because I drive long distances in this truck and often towing animals, boats, etc. I think I will likely need to replace the whole column and I should probably get one from a junkyard.
2. The gooseneck hitch that came with this thing is custom and I think it is under industry standard. it is recessed into the truck and there is good welded assembly to the frame below however the hitch shank hole (which is commonly 2.5"x2.5") is only 2"x2". This wouldn't be a huge problem for me except the truck didn't come with the ball and shank that were made for it and there is literally no where in TX,LA, or NC to find it. This makes me think I should cut the old one out and just pay the 500 to put a nice new B&G hitch in. Anyone have an alternative or a way to use the 2x2 shank? The pin for it is about 5 or 6 inches deep down the shank, if that makes sense. I wil try to get pics of all my equipment soon, just have to find my camera cord.
3. Radio has al sorts of issues but I think this is so common and simple that it shouldn't be a biug bother to just re run whats needed. I would like to put in a new reciever that does mp3 and has a 1/8" mini plug input jack.
Will post more later, just had some company get here.
I'm working on some pics, I'm still in the dark ages with my cell phone.
I went to the parts store to find the "automotive light" or the light to test my glow plugs and they didn' know what I was talking about. I thought I remembered reading that I could also use an Ohm meter so I got a cheap one. Now I just need to figure out how this thing works and what to do with and what readings to look for. Anyone have good directions for testing my glow plugs with this ohm meter?
Mine looks like this, how should I set it to test? I think I contact the glow plugs on there heads with the red stick and ground the black? still don't know how to read all these settings but I'm going to study up online for a few mins.
The parts store said that this is a dealership part but I'm betting that if I just need to change the o-ring I could find a comparable one at the parts store. Anyone know it's size or if it's special?

I was able to pick up an intake at a junk yard a few mins ago off of a 91, mine is an 89. I don't think I will have any issues but just wanted to check here. Also I think that guy overcharged me, I tried to talk him down from $40 cause its just a piece of plastic but he went on his spiel about how one part of it is 100 new and the other is 200. Really? This seem very high, but I still settled for it and plan to install it in a few mins.
