I'm going to attempt to replace the Plugs in my 05 5.L, with the new Champions they have out for these engines. I can't find anywhere what the plug gap should be. Anyone know what I should gap the plugs to?
Why didn't you buy the Ford Motorcraft plugs for the 5.4L 3V? - expensive as hell, but they are good plugs and no need to gap them. No special tools required unless you break one off. Loosen 1/8 turn and spray with penetrating oil and let it get in there. Make sure you put anti-seize on the long electrode part that sticks down below the threads when you install the new ones.
What is the difference in the new Champions? Are the extended electrode below the threads a lot smaller to avoid seizing issues?

Check one of the labels under the hood. On my '01, one of those labels has the spark plug gap on it.
The gap is not on the emissions label under the hood, it says see service manual. I am not going to risk putting those poorly designed Motorcrafts back in, and risk them coming apart when they are replaced. The Champions are a one piece design. I'm not a big fan of Champion's, but in this case their better than the OEM's. I was very lucky all my plugs came right out, I didn't need to soak then in the card cleaner that the tech bulliten recomended.
My Chiltons said gap my 04 2V 5.4 to .054, I gapped them to .050 and it runs great. If you have thin wire plugs BE CAREFUL GAPPING THEM! I put them autolite iridiums in mine and wasted 2 $8 plugs before i figured out how to gap them properly

That's why I said check, I wasn't certain. The label under my hood does have it on there.
