a knocking sound
my 300 6 seems to have a noticable knocking noise. no oil is being burnt and it's not bad on gas and has alot of power. starts easy. this sound bugs me more than anything else. i really can't pinpoint where it's coming from. is this commin for the 300 6? my dad says that it's been doing that noise for a ever so im just wondering if the rods or something are damaged or what it is

Ford issued a tsb concerning this yrs ago . Regardless of the oil filter used , Be it Motorcraft or whatever , the oil will drain from the filter over a period of time . What Ford did was come up with an oil filter adapter ( The adapter is the part that you screw the oil filter on to ) that has a check ball & spring . This check ball stops all oil flow from the oil filter when the engine is off . It will stop the startup noise , But its roughly an $80 part , When you see it you will never understand how it can cost $80+ dollars . Its basically an oil filter adapter with a steel ball & a spring behind it . Im not sure any serious damage or wear occurs , But lots of people complained & thats what Ford came up with . Its Ford Part No. E4TZ 6890 A . I was thinking you lived in Canada , Winterpeg maybe , So you can add 20% at least to that price .
