92 F250 7.3: Whats the cylindrical unit just forward of the oil filter? I have an oil leak. Its leaking down the oil filter but its not the oil filter seal. Its running down from over the unit the filter is mounted on.

Is the oil cooler stock equipment or after market equipment on the 7.3? My Chiltons manual reads as if oil coolers are after market equipment, but I would think on a diesel it would be OEM. The Chiltons manual seems to be geared more toward the gas engines? Is the oil cooler difficult to replace? My Chiltons gives not directions on replacement. Can anyone give me step-by-step instructions, parts list, necessary tools, etc? Thanks!

The oil cooler is stock equipment on the 7.3 and 6.9 engines.
