95 bronco auto hub question

I have a 95 brondo and I added a 6" lift, detroit tru-trac, installed new ball joints and generally freshened up the frnt end. Now (10 months later) I tried to re-install the hubs and either forgot the sequence or something is wrong. the washers dont fit inside the c-clip and it appears the axle isnt protuding far enough but maybe Im just all screwed up since its been so long. Does anyone know where I can find an exploded view or can someone provide a good detailed description?

thanks - it would be nice to drive the thing again some day. I will install manuals after I break the auto hubs but id like to get some use out of them first.

Go from behind the knuckle and pry outward from the u-joint, or hook a bungee cord to it to push and hold the axle out that extra 1/2 inch or so.

The thing is that you can slide the axle outward to give you the little bit more you need, and everything will fit nicely.....and all will be well in Bronco land once more.

Thanks - I'll try that. Seems to me it was a bitch last time I did the job but that was years ago. I tried pulling on the axle with channel locks (carefully - sorta) but didnt get any movement. my theory is that with new seals, bearings, u-joints and maybe even all the painted surfaces, I just used up the clearance. Im stuck at work til tomorrow (fire dept) or id be fighting it now instead of typing, but I'll certainly jump on it in the morning. After nearly a year its time to drive it again.

Yes.....get a small pry bay into the u-joint, and just give light pressure outward.....then if you want you can use a bungee cord to hold it all the way out like that so you can reinstall the hubs. I didnt have to do this last time around......but I did have to do it in the past.

I know there was a very good write up on this with good pics and everything....you would need to search......but thats about all you need to do....is to just slide the axle out a bit.

Thanks - it workked out pretty well - got enough out of it to install the splined washer which I guess is the most important, but couldnt fit the other two in. Interestingly they work this way so far and I think that as the thing breaks in a bit things will loosen up - we'll see. thanks for the help!
