I don't think I'd mentioned it here before, but my dad passed away a few months ago. I did a photo tribute to him. He was always cooking up something fun to do. Never a dull moment with dad. One of the coolest guys I know to this day. He was the youngest of 3. I am, too.

Chad, I watched your tribute to your Dad, and I can only say that you both are lucky. One to have so many photo't of his childhood, tells a story in itself, one of his parents love for their children. To say he lived a full life, would probably be an understatement, but the fondness and love you had for your Dad is a blessing, that seems all too rare these days. I am sorry for your loss, but appreciate your tribute and how it celebrated his life, what a legacy!!! And I can only image how proud he was. I hope I can have a similar relationship with my son, and hope when my time comes, they will also celebrate my life while morning my passing. Be well, and thank you for sharing.
OK, movin' on with life. I've been putting off this purchase for far too long and they only keep going up and up in price. Free shipping, at least!! Placed my order for one and now I wait for that. I'm fine with the stock black which is great. They want another $400 to do a custom color.

Chad,
Getting caught up on your truck thread and life. Great detail in your work. It is a passion for you. Thanks for posting the words, info, and pictures! You will inspire me and others to continue to improve the trucks we work on.
Very nice tribute to your father Chad, thanks for sharing it here. You are fortunate that your family was into photos, many were not. Of coarse I was at the edge of my seat watching for the Honda scrambler photos I knew would appear, and they did with nice wheelies ! (Heavy bikes for games like that!)
And an Indian too! It seems you come from good stock, thanks again., rusty
I have a black dash pad protector on my truck, from the previous owner, held in place with a little bit of Velcro. When my truck arrived, you can imagine my surprise when I looked underneath and fond that my dash appears perfect. I just assumed that cover was there to hide an ugly old worn out cracked dashboard. But it is good to know that someone is making replacements. In fact, mine could be a replacement, there is just so much about my truck that I don't know, from the previous owners.
Looking at that price gives me one more reason that I prefer the 1965 model year...
well as Chad said before, they just keep getting more and more expensive...
I just pulled the trigger on one, too I just know that looking at the holes where the chrome trim pieces attach would bug me to no end. My original dash pad was tired, cracked and very ugly.
I know that they charge at least over $1200 for a BMW 2002 dash and I have 1 or 2 of those in my future, someday.
That's great. I'm not sure if I believe it or not but I got an email from them this morning confirming my order and saying it would take 7-10 days to complete. Something else I read said they were about 4 months out on orders. Luckily, I'm not in a hurry.

Well, if I'm lucky, they'll iron out all the kinks while making yours and by the time they get to mine it should be flawless....
I really enjoy working on my trucks and I spent almost all day yesterday doing so. Today was going to be more of the same but didn't get more than started when a neighbor texted and said a branch had come down on our shared roadway. Most of my neighbors know I burn wood for heat and know to text/call me - so I went down the road to see what was up. This is most of the branch - from a maple tree - still about 10 feet of the largest portion closest to the tree left to cut tomorrow but the branches around here dwarf the trees in many places in the world. Seattle is known for its rain - which leads to good tree growth obviously. The saws on the tailgate are a 25" bar to the right and a 32" bar to the left. Never know what you might run into - best to be prepared for anything.
Where my wife is from, here in Germany, a lot of folks still heat with wood, and every spring the village divides up a dedicated area of the forest called Hauberg for firewood. Hauberg, is a mix of Deciduous trees harvested on about a 20 year cycle, and from the fist of March through the end of April, its not uncommon to hear the sweet sound of chainsaws filling the air in Oechelhausen. And in order to be able to go into the Hauberg, and harvest, you have to have a chainsaw license...Germans love their licenses, and rubber stamps to make all things official. Anyway, I got my Kettensägenschein shortly after I moved here, and naturally my wife has had her's since she was old enough to get one.
Now mind you, I knew none of that back in 2005 when I met my wife. So when we were first dating and sitting around having dinner, and I was sharing some "Chatty Matty" story about some project I had done that require dropping a few hundred mature trees and clearing for new pastor land, she casually asked what brand chainsaw I had? "Naturally, Stihl" I replied. She then added, "OH, that's good," wile still keeping her mad chainsaw skills to herself. But truth be told, I don't think I would be married to this fine woman today, had I answered "Husqvarna."
Thus...at least they are Stihl...
