Nice find.

High timing (too much) and / or high idle speeds can lead to "run-on" when the ignition switch is turned off. Either can do it alone, both together even more likely.

Edelbrock will tell you that their carburetors are limited to 6 psi fuel pressure, a good stock mechanical fuel pump on that truck pumps 7 psi. If the Edelbrock carburetor is run with a good stock pump, at low demand times like at idle or light throttle almost coasting use, the carburetor will usually flood. Might be why the electric pump was used.

Electric pumps are good pushers but not so good at sucking fuel 15-20 feet from a tank back there under the bed.

Electric pumps should have a oil pressure switch that cuts them off in absence of oil pressure.

Radiator looks fine to me.

I almost bought a new chrome steel grille shell, but then I'd have had to replace the bumper, then on and on, so polishing worked for me.

Like said .... Nice find.

Lol, I can’t do it. Damn thigs are to big. My wife will hit a jogger with em 🤣 Ugly and not sure I could fit both vehicles in the garage with them on.

One currently on it are junk too. I’m probably gonna use the ones like my 78 has.

Well when they are in the "in/no tow mode", the mirror head is over the top triangle. And then you spin them out and flip the mirror 180* for "tow/jogger tag mode". yes they are big, just though that you might want to know all them bolts in the door do fit something. So you want some type 9's huh, cool.

Talk to me about rear disc conversion options. Want to get a mid to higher end rear disc conversion. Gotta make sure the wife can stop on a dime!

This thread .... tbear853's 1977 F150 Brake Upgrade - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums .... was how I went, some here use hydro boost. I'm pleased. I'm gonna try some F250 rear WCs, the larger F-350 ones had rear lockup too quick, the F-150 ones do fine, but I just want to try the F-250 size. Drum breaks self energize, disk don't.

She'll like the steering with '78/'79 style tie rods, drag link, pitman arm and maybe a RedHead steering box.

Took her for another cruise after dinner. Stopped at the gas station to buy a water and left it running, Started up the road and sputtered again with a little backfire this time. Whats odd is it did exactly that yesterday in the exact same scenario. Only correlation I have is that it sat running for 1-2 minutes.
My brother works at a town highway and the mechanic there said he’d take a look at.

Could be a timing issue. but usually a backfire is fuel starvation.

You might want to put a new small CFM Holley 4160 on your Christmas list. big upgrade and a problem solver.

The carb also isn’t kicking to high idle on initial start. Leaning towards carb but will have mechanic check the timing for sure.

Be sure he checks the timing curve not just the initial. if he's any kind of mechanic he'll have a dial back and know it's more important than the initial.

As your RPM climbs you have mechanical advance built into your distributor. and your vacuum advance is regulated by the vacuum as determined by the load on the engine. without these you'll not only have issues with how it runs but suffer a loss of power and fuel economy. or in an overly advanced situation detonation could take your engine out.

The ignition timing curve is the heartbeat of an engine.
