After a day of wet sanding with my painter I was covered in teal! He got it all painted up and I’m finally in the home stretch.
I got it back from paint the other day and started putting some small parts back on. The paint is still curing so I won’t be able to do windowsills and Bedliner for at least a week. Meanwhile, I will be adding all the final touches to the interior like the stereo and putting the dash back together. I’ll also get the bumpers on.

30 minutes of scrubbing with hand soap, a toothbrush and a metallic silver sharpie and you too can have a bezel that looks as good as this lol.

 

Haha. I would be glad with the front bumper and front grill shining like that.

Few months ago I used Coke and tin foil to get rid of some surface rust spots on the bumper. Worked pretty good. But is not like a real polishing finish of course.

 

It's looking real good.

 

Finally made it down to get inspected and registered. Also did a few interior updates.

swapped in some warm white led lights in the column and cluster and got the stereo wired with power. The lights are dimmable to a degree.

I pulled switched power from the yellow three way bullet plug end behind the cluster and constant from the bullet connector for the courtesy light circuit. Grounded to the dash and it all worked out.
I’ll try to get some photos tomorrow.

Next up is finishing speaker and amp wiring. And… door cards.


I really want to clean up the steering. It likes to wander a bit. I’ve added the lower column bearing and a new rag joint. I guess next is the 78-79 t style setup.

also looking for some good running boards or step that’s more slider than assisted living.

Wow! Hard to believe how it looked before! I really like this paint color on that sweet ride!!!! Congratulations!!

 

While things have slowed on the truck now that it’s mostly complete, they have not stopped. I am still awaiting some custom parts for the interior before I finish up the door panels.

I did install some ppf from 3m on the rockers, the front of the hood, door handle areas and around the lock cylinders. Also did some high ware areas in the interior. Not much to photograph in that regard so nothing really to show for it.

I just ordered the master power rear brake conversion which should be superior to most of the standard brake conversion kits you can find on all the major sites. They use a modern Ford caliper that has an auto adjusting E brake function, which should be much better than the GM calipers that most of the other kits offer. Their components are all made in America as far as I can tell and they look well machined.

I did also order the dual diaphragm 9 inch brake booster, and inch and eighth master cylinder from them as well instead of ordering it from Battle Born brakes. After comparing the two my findings were that the Master Power mounting bracket locates the booster higher up on the firewall and uses a cantilever system, which avoids the issue of valve cover clearances. I’ll be sure to document everything when I receive it and the process of installing it. They were also kind enough to swap the end of the push rod for the booster to match the end that I have on my current setup.

The Bedliner is in now and I think it turned out great. I went with the scorpion product and and used a guy that’s local out here to have it done. I’m really impressed with the texture and tackiness of it. Hopefully things don’t go sliding around now.
