Offset shim.

Didn't need it in the end. Mini starter is cooked & the factory one didn’t need it.

Kid was the camera woman & editor. That crap is beyond my skill levels.

Off to do other fun filled crap.

With the “V8 family” (in other words, Windsors), with the larger flywheel the starters are different nose lengths and gear reaches between automatic and manual.
At least they are with the truck size bell housing with 164t flywheels. With the passenger car size, such as would’ve been in the Mustangs with smaller clutches, the automatic and manual starters were the same.

For 335 and 385 families of engines, I think the starters are the same, no matter what transmission.
I had not run across the two sizes as mentioned above but I’m not experienced with those engines. So it wouldn’t surprise me at all!

Buddy of mine it threatening me with a window sticker.

Warning, I'm a f***ing moron. I do dumb s☆^☆^.

He could be right. I'm gonna pull the pan on that one & repair the drain plug thats leaking, then it's going back into the Bronco until i can get one of the big blocks done.

Spent the rest of the afternoon getting the carb cheater installed.

Air valve thingy is just to the passenger side of the brake booster.

Brain box is just behind the voltage regulator. Ignore the rats nest of wiring, I'm cleaning all that up tomorrow. This was a make it run mission.

the magic plate does double duty as one seriously thick phenolic spacer.

And the display. Ain't gone for a ride yet, but it's doing what it's supposed to at an idle at least.

Initial start up before I turned on the auto tune feature, the A/F was 15.5 to 16.3 & after I turned that on & set the idle for 13.5. The GPS speedo will be nice as well.

I am interested to see how that system works with your Edelbrock carb. I have a Holley Off Road Truck Avenger carb on the 71 Bronco and am curious if this system might help me fine tune it and get a little bit more out of the carb.

Well see how well it does in a few weeks. Taking a week off in March & going to pick up the Cj-7. It's the other side of Lexington Kentucky or roughly 550 miles each way. Dragging my two axle trailer out & my buddy is dragging his 71 Cj-5 I'm doing work on, my jeep is on my big car hauler already, since August. I want my trailer back.

This is why I've been doing so much to get the wife's truck right. Gonna get the trailer brake box wired in & go through the truck brakes next weekend. Thinking I should yank the receiver hitch off the Bronco & use, as I'm not what youd call fond of bumper towing. Might go retard & install the 1 ton leaf packs I kept when i did the lift on the the F350.

Did the 7 pin plug a while back. Just need the brain box now.

This isn't at all dent related, well except that it'll come home on a trailer pulled be a dent probably. Plus we all like cool old vehicles.

The second Jeep Cj I owned is coming back after many years. And the wife is happy about another project vehicle, as she liked this one & was rather cross with me for selling him back when. Was supposed to be an us project, but life got in the way at the time.

Old school 1969 Kaiser Jeep Cj5. With the sorta uncommon Dauntless Oddfire V6, T-14 transmission, Dana 18 T-case, Dana 27 front & offset Dana 44 rear.

Pics from when I first bought him in 2018 or 2019.

With the 83 Cj5 I drove at the time.

I actually had this thing running around the yard.

The floors were good at the time. No clue now.

There may have been some transmission issues.....

Hopefully he'll be home in a few weeks. If not, it'll be sometime this summer.

Doing truck stuff!

DesperaDesperately need to retune the 1310. It's not near as happy as when it was cold as heck outside, at least until it warms up.

Got my problem child in & torn down a bit. Wanted to confirm it's a 351m & inspect #4, since it was my rusty locked up pain in the butt.

1KA crankshaft = 351m.

Decided to check the end play for giggles. Little on the high side at .008, but still within spec.

Gonna have to deal with the exhaust bolt holes. Don't know if I did the heli coil or not, but this one needs dealt with.

Here's problem cylinder #4. Can still see the rust line, but can't feel anything with a fingernail.

I'm tempted to get a ball hone & try to clean it up. Wish I would've remembered to do a compression test when i had the starter in it. I'm also curious as to how an acorn got in the bottom.
