Hey all haven’t been on for a while. Haven’t got much progress accomplished lately but I did get the rest of the cab stripped and it went to the paint shop yesterday. Still in need of a good drivers door.
I’ve got my messages full and can’t respond back to those that have messaged me. Can someone please explain how to clear out my messages.
there has been a big change in plans on this project.
I have an 83 f150 4x4 with a fresh 351w and a c6.
im putting that in this project and sold the 400 stuff to the guy who’s going to paint it.
the 83 is going in the shop to get stripped of all the parts I need this weekend.
I should have the motor and transmission ready when the paint is done.
I went to two Salvage yards Saturday. I didn’t come home empty handed, I got a very nice under the hood AC box and all the vacuum pots and grabbed all the ductwork and wiring from the inside. Got nice cables as well.
I didn’t find a usable drivers door. I have a lead on one 3.5 hrs away in Missouri. I may go look this weekend.
Still no luck on a drivers door but I may have found a couple east of here a couple hours away. They look good in pics. Bare doors but I’ve saved the wing windows, regulators , latches and glass from all my other doors. I should have everything I need if they pan out.
I traded my 400 towards the paint job on this truck. I have a fresh 351w and C6 out of another truck I have. I decided to pull them and put them in this project.
I also got a lot of other parts off that truck.
I’m going this weekend to see the progress on the paint. I’m excited about that. He just has the cab and fenders there. I still have the passenger door and hood in my shop waiting on me to strip them.
Im hoping to have the body back home in a couple months so I can stab the motor and trans before I put the front clip on the truck.

I drove 2.5 hours east to look at some drivers doors yesterday. I came home with a very good door. I’m relieved about finally finding that door.
I got to go see my truck Friday night. He’s came a long way with it. Has the cab in primer. I thought it looked good as is.
I didn’t think to take pics when I was there.
I got to go to the paint shop and have a look at the cab progress. He has the cab all sealed up ready for primer. I’m going to strip the new drivers door and hood this weekend and get them to him.
im cleaning the 351 and the transmission up and getting them ready to install when i get the truck back. Feels good to be making progress again.
Just seen this but for others check out https://tabcoparts.com/
For body panels they had what I needed for my 81 F100 besides floors, rockers, cab corners, rear lower door posts I also replaced the lower inner & outer of the left door.
So dont trash that door with a few holes in it just yet.
They saved me money by telling me some of the panels would over lap and did not need them and set a flat sheet to use as a filler if needed.

I worked a few nights this week and most of yesterday and now have both doors and fenders stripped to bare metal and delivered to the paint shop.
I wasn’t able to get pics of the cab yet.
all I lack is the hood. I’ll start that this week. Getting excited about the paint.
Started on the hood yesterday afternoon.
I’m considering blasting the inside.
concerned about getting the media out of the inside of it.
all the other parts are in primer.
hopefully I’ll finish the hood one night this week and get it delivered.
I was going to clean up the inner fenders and leave them, but I’ve decided to blast and paint them.
im thinking about a complete front clip bolt kit. Any recommendations?
Fingers crossed hoping my truck gets paint this weekend. It’s at a friends shop/paint booth. Hopefully it will be back home so I can start putting it back together. Will be hunting a grill shell soon. Closer to north West Arkansas the better.
Had a good weekend of progress. Got my motor mostly together minus oil pan and valve covers. Got a little paint on it as well. Got a call tonight that my paint is done. I’m getting super excited. I’ll get pics of the truck soon as I get to see it.
