It snowed a good bit saturday before lunch then melted off pretty quick, later snowed about 1-2" but slowly melted off as well. Will be getting rain tuesday night, glad its going to wash off the awful salt crap they put down on the roads.
My ammeter is not hooked up/working because I installed the 12si 90 amp off the generator, since the engine had brackets and wiring for it already..
Probably going to make the switch from the 160* t-stat that came in the generator to a 180*. Hate to cause its a very nice brass motorcraft unit.
I just did my windshield install, it did suck! I tried to get the glass guy to come to my heated shop to install mine, but they didnt want to. They wanted it in their shop, but i didnt want to trailer it there or drive it in the winter with no glass. It was my first time, I had my 18 year old son helping. Hopefully it won't leak. Watched a few videos, precision has a good one. The suction cups would have helped immensely pulling the glass down to set it. The little ball hook tool is absolutely necessary.
Same here, I had a guy in my shop doing mt 2001 f250, he refused to do the 77 even though it was right there.
Thank you sir, did you buy direct from precision? Whenever I get around to it ill definitely be using at least one suction cup and a pick tool, I'm afraid the hose pick I have has too sharp a point on it...
I'm not certain where I bought it. Or even the brand. My guess is its Dennis carpenter or precision. Seemed decent enough. Another helpful tip, I really warmed up the glass and rubber before we started. Used some welding blankets and a reddi heater. Good luck
YEARS ago a guy brought an old Ford pickup in with a 390 2V and wanted us to install a Holley 500 cfm.
We did our best explaining how to operate the manual choke.
He cam back a week later, truck runs like crap and its eating fuel.
Somewhere a long the line he didn't understand that you have to push the choke cable back in once its running.
I love a Holley for its adjustability and I hate a Holley for it's adjustability. Maybe I'm just a masochist for tuning, I've got 7 or 8 Holley's of various flavors & exactly 1 1406 Edelbrock. Couple of 2100 kicking around for good measure.
Still learning what this combo needs and when when cold starting..
That's hilarious on the manual choke, I was lucky enough to learn them on small engines young, then cut my teeth on a 65 chevy c10 with a 230-6. First carb and set of points I ever really messed with and got somewhat dialed in.
Maybe I should say leaking, I'm sure it will leak!!, I always try not to overtighten the fuel bowl screws..
I feel ya Fleur, the more I learn the harder it gets..
My previous go at bullnoses & dentsides were all carter & edelbrocks on ford small blocks and big blocks. I was scared of Holley, local folks talked lots of crap, and my only holley experience up to that point was replacing an emissions laden 4180 that was on a 351ho in an 85 f150, with a 1406 edelbrock and feeling the improvement...
I didn't understand timing and the edelbrocks always had an off idle stumble...because not enough initial..
I tried a holley street avenger and not knowing they were calibrated lean from the factory, I never got it to run right not knowing how to actually tune one, and timing curve.. Even though forums were hot, its crazy how much more information is available now when compared to 2004ish..
I was more into offroad so that led me down the path to a couple different qjets, at the same time I started learning how to get timing dialed in. Then I went to 13.2:1 compression in my last big block and converted to propane sold that truck 16 years ago and now here I am again.

I went too far, changed from 74/78 and .09" wire to 71/76 and .013" wire.
Shes too lean now...flat ground cruising I am dialed in about 14.5-14.7ish. Roll into it on a hill she get lean and soft 15.5-16:1. Roll into it more, and pv opens and its in the mid 13's.
Idle and idle in gear is good, wot is a little lean now at 13-13.5 If i wind it out. Going to try 72 and .09" wire

It was alnost the exact opposite in my area. All the old guys talked nothing but trash on Carter & Edelbrock, it was Holley or nothing. And i could only ever afford a used second hand Edelbroke, typically a worn clapped out pos at that. So I got pretty fair at working an Edelbroke, but I've never particularly cared for the Carter design. I think Carter should've stopped with their single barrel carb like a YF or maybe a 2bbl BBD, those both are straight up troopers. I was in my late 30's before I ever really started tearing into learning how to work a Holley. Its been fun figuring it out, if not always a calming experience.

crazy how things could be so regional, especially before forums and youtube/social media got so hot! People around me called them eldlebrocks
I agree on the Holleys, and pretty much the same, just now learning how to really tweak one, and apparently just at the tip of the iceberg.
My dislike for Edelbrock / Carter AFBs comes from working on Chryslers and Dodges with 383s and 440s in their big full size cars.
Hated them then and I still do.
My first car was a 1950 Ford with a flathead V8, 3 on the tree, over drive and a manual choke.
+ ground battery and a starter button.
I had been working on cars before electronic ignition ever came out.
Chrysler was first, 1972. The first HEI was on the 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix. The distributor cap was the same size as the point cap but screws attached it to the distributor. The spark plug wires were were all attached to the ring that snapped down on top of the cap and a new set cost $85 clear back in 1974.
It was cheaper to convert it to a point system than it was to replace a set of wires and that was done all the time.
Which jets are next?
I'm at 68/74.
Creeping around in the hills in 4-high 1st and 2nd gear this morning my truck ran great. Runs great going down the road and at WOT thru the gears.
I'm sure that there is room for improvement somewhere but right now I am quite pleased with the way it runs.
