Q2 Apr May and June BS Thread
Fuzz's Red & White F100
49 Chrysler (1st series) belonging to my friend John
My buddy Dick's 58 Fairlane retractable
Thankfully we had some shade to sit under
Thinking of swinging by to see what is going on but its going to be a hot one and dont want or need to hang out in the heat LOL
Dave ----
We got there late with about an hour to go, hardly got out of the truck and guys were around the truck.
I got to say the red & white make the truck pop and stand out!
They said most of the car had left before we got there

There was another show down the road but did not start for 2 hours (1pm). I did drive by but it was way to early so no cars yet and it was already low 90's so went home.
Later wife wanted to hit a Char Grill burger in Benson so we took the truck.
When we were eating someone came in and asked (I could not hear but you can tell with the pointing) someone at the counter next to them if they owned the red & white truck parked in the lot.
They pointed to a red ford and he then looked around and I just nodded LOL
He came over and we talked for a little till his food was ready.
As the wife & I ate I saw there was a small car show in the parking lot across from us so when done I had to swing by and take a look. There was maybe 10 cars but it was also early.
1 of the people there I talked to at MoJo's show a few weeks before. John he has a a few Ford think Fair Lanes this was the blue one hes had for like 40 years, small world!
Next show is in 2 weeks and 2 of them, early (page rd. Durham C&C) and late (MoJo's Garner) if not to hot may try to make both?

Like Dave said we did not stay at the Cars & Coffee very long, maybe 1 hour. It was breaking up and the sun was starting to heat things up. I went back home afterwards to have lunch with my wife and then had some Fathers Day activities, as my daughter & her baby & husband came over to hang out & swim, and then at supper time we went to Beefmastors in Wilson for a steak. We did have 2 hours of tailgating while waiting for our table, but it was worth it in the end.
I wonder if our Q-Crew would like to have a dinner meet there some time?

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I have done that trip for work, something different to look at than the high way, when taking LP up to Parker's BBQ and a few others that way.
Dave ----
He said a shop quoted $1400 to replace the compressor that they found was bad, and a few normal parts you replace when the system is open.
He was not so sure the compressor was bad as they did not have the can inside that long and charged him $145 to tell him the compressor was bad.
Son said the new machines today can do a lot of things pretty quick.
We put the gauges on and it had pressure, 95 low & high not running.
Started up and turned on AC, compressor started and stayed running the whole time during the checking, low said came down to think 70 psi at idle but high side stayed at 95 psi.
Bring the RPM up only lowered the low said to 60 psi, high stayed at 95 PSI.
Talking it over we also think the compressor is bad at this point.
Kurt has to get the charge removed and he will then change out the needed parts.
I left my vacuum pump & gauge set so he can recharge the system when ready.
It was nice to see him as we have not seen him on the forum or show up to some of the few dinners we have had, maybe that will change?
Dave ----
Dave, I haven't seen Kurt since we ate at that BBQ place in Fuquay. Has to be like 4 years ago! Glad you were able to help him confirm that the compressor was the problem.
I've been doing a little cleanup on the Studebaker, 70 years of grease mixed with dust and grime then dried for several decades becomes hard as a rock. Won't come off with a pressure washer, you gotta scrape and chip every inch. lol
Dave. I have a machine to discharge A\C if ya'll need to borrow it, It's really big (read OLD) Or if you prefer, just bring the car over and work on it out here. The shop doesn't have A\C though. You are right on the pressures. if everything was working correctly, I expect the low side to be around 45 and the high to be around 225, based on how hot it's been. It doesn't take long for a tech to figure out what's wrong with a system. The difficulty on A\C is usually finding where it leaks at. But a freon sniffer does that pretty well now too, so, even that shouldn't be a long process. 1400 sounds kinda high, but then maybe it's not a 134 system? 12 is really expensive, and I don't have the gear to work on that. Haven't used the vacuum pump\gauge method for filling a system in a long time.
Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Tell Kurt I said hello next time you see him. Hopefully with Annie turning one already, things will get a little easier around here for a time, well until she turns 2.
