Just picked up a '59 F100 project

Been looking for a while. Found a nice, solid, Texas truck. I was originally planning to put one on a crown vic chassis. However, now I'm thinking a 351w and a 5 spd. But I may change my mind again. EDIT: I decided against the CV swap. I'm gonna keep the stock chassis and suspension.

Pretty solid looking start. Crown Vic conversion is cool but it really takes away the old truck feel. Of course, that is what some folks want and that is why they make chocolate and vanilla!

Nice looking truck. Looks pretty rust free compared to a lot of the truck projects on the forum.

nice looking truck

Great looking project. The body looks very solid and the seat cover looks like the original pattern. Is that box where the heater/defroster goes stock or an after market system?

Thanks. I thought the same thing about the seat. The heater is an Arvin. Looks solid, but I haven't checked out the core yet.

Haven't posted in a while. I had the body blasted after I ran across some sketchy repairs. What I thought was a good truck turned out to be much worse. I will be getting a lot of practice on my metal working skills. Every part needs significant repair. I don't believe in fixing rot with fiberglass. I also am not a fan of lap welds. So handmade patches and butt tig welds for the next few months. Luckily I had a spare hood to scab some pieces off as well as EMS cab corners. Here's some photos so far.

They are hardly ever as good as they look with the paint still on. But you are doing some very good looking metal work.

Hard to believe how bad it was. I am most impressed so far with what you did to the hood. Wow!

Nice job. Mine had a few holes in bottom. I reclassified them as "drain holes".

Nice job on the rust repair so far. The previous owner did a good job to hide it.
